Finally happy

Nico's POV

I was so happy. Leo is here! He's actually here! I couldn't stop thinking about that. But there's something else that bothers me, he said he thought I was dead. My poor Leo spent 5 years thinking I was dead, and here I was thinking that he didn't miss me, now I feel bad to think that. I was his only friend, like he was mine. We were inseparable, he cried when we came to his house to say goodbye. So why did I think he didn't miss me? I don't know anymore.

Right now we were in the principal's office. Why? Because our algebra teacher got really mad for coming 20 minutes late to her class, it didn't help that Leo called her a drama queen, that's not even an insult but she looked really offended and sent us here, so "the principal show you two some respect". Such a drama queen.

After the principal's 1 hour long speech about responsibility and other things I didn't pay attention to, it was already time for lunch, so he let us go.

As soon as we left the office, Leo sighed in relief. "Thank you God! I thought he would never finish! What kind of person gives an ADHD kid an hour long speech?!"

I laughed, "Apparently he does, c'mon I'm starving! Let's go get food!" I grabbed his hand and ran to the cafeteria where everyone was, sitting, eating, and talking. I looked around to find Hazel, I saw her with her boyfriend Frank, that Percy hot guy, another blonde hot guy, a blondie, and a...... Native American? I'm not sure

Leo saw them too and immediately dragged me to them, we sat down, and everyone at the table got quiet, staring at both of us. "What? Is there something on my face?" Leo asked, touching his face. Then he playfully elbowed me "Why didn't you tell me there was something on my beautiful face?!" I chuckled, and bowed playfully, "Oh I'm sorry Your Highness, but may I say that your face is just as bad as I remember"

He put a hand on his heart and gasped dramatically, "How dare you! I will have you executed at once! Guards!" I began laughing because Percy and the blond stood up "Sir yes sir!" They said simultaneously. Leo grinned, "Take this.. offending creature for execution!"

"Sir yes sir" They approached me and each one grabbed me by one arm and started dragging me out of the cafeteria, I started playfully kicking "Let me go! I apologize deeply, Your Highness, it won't happen again!"

Leo laughed as well as the rest of the guys at the table, "Ok ok enough, come back here you three!" We went back, not caring that some students looked at us weirdly. I took my place next to Leo.

Then we all laughed for no reason, after we calmed down we started eating. I didn't laugh like that in ages, I was happy and grateful to have Leo back in my life.

(Skipped classes because they're boring)

After school, I told Hazel I would go to Leo's house to catch up. She immediately agreed, seeing how happy I was to be with him.

We were waiting for Leo's mom for who knows how long in comfortable silence when Leo decided to break it (the silence), "Why?" He asked. I looked at him confused, "Why what?"

He looked back at me, tears in his eyes, "Why after 5 years of thinking my best friend was dead, just today I found out he was alive and I was friends with his step-sister for two years?"

I sighed, "Lee-Lee... Three weeks, after umm mamma and Bi d-died... the doctor introduced me to Marie and Hazel, they told me Hazel was my half-sister" Leo's eyes widened, "And they wanted to adopt me and help, because I was alone. I didn't have a choice, so I accepted. We were in a New Orleans's hospital, so I thought we were still in that place not in New York, if I knew I was here I would have immediately gone to your house I swear, but I didn't know. I stayed at the house, not wanting to talk to anyone new, so Marie home-schooled me so I could learn and not make friends."

Leo nodded in understanding, "You never wanted to make other friends because you hate to 'socialize' with new people" he gave me a small smile, "But still, you approached to a scrawny seven year old alone in a park"

I smiled at him, "I guess it was an exception" and winked at him, his smile got wider "Well I'm flattered"

Then we proceeded to talk about random things, because we wanted to talk about our lives more privately, when Leo's phone made a ping! noise. "Huh, let me check it give me a sec" He said, then opened his phone and checked the new message. A few minutes later he sighed and closed the phone.

"Well Neeks, I guess we waited here for nothing, mamá can't pick us up, we'll walk to my house, ok?" I nodded and grabbed his hand and headed to Leo's house. I looked down and saw our hands intertwined and smiled. I was finally happy.
