"How is he?" The words leave Julian's lips the moment Jasper walks through the door of the empty living area.
The house is eerily silent, one would even mistake the moment for a scene in a horror movie just before the suspenseful music is queued and shit really goes down.
That's exactly how I felt waiting for Grey's arrival. Shit was about to hit the fan and spurt all over me and anyone in my range. Sadly, there was nothing I could do to escape it. I was the girl in the horror movie who doesn't run although danger lurks right behind her shadow.
"As to be expected." Jasper's tired bloodshot eyes briefly land on me before he averts his attention back towards his brother.
"Where is he now?" I would also like to know.
"In the woods. He needed time to cool off first."
"That bad?"
Though they were speaking among themselves I couldn't help but listen into their conversation.
"He lost control at the wrong moment. A few people got caught in the crossfire."
Julian's face falls, worry overwhelming his otherwise magnetic features.
"Jasmine?" Jasper's features soften slightly as he inquiries about his mate.
"She's at the pack house...only a few of us are still here."
"Good. The last thing we need are more casualties."
More casualties?
"You should probably get going too."
"And leave her here alone?"
Julian's concern for me warms my heart. I however get no time to dwell on his words, my attention solely focused on jasper and what he would say next.
"If it's still Mason, do you really want him to find you here with her? He will see you as a threat first before you are Greyson's brother."
Mason?
"What's to say he won't lose control with her?"
"She sealed her own fate. There's nothing either of us can do."
"Can you two stop talking about me like I'm not sitting right here." I finally speak, my irritation reaching its peak.
Both their eyes fall on me but I soon come to realize that they weren't looking right at me but at whatever was behind me.
Greyson

"Come."
His tone is demanding, leaving no room for defiance.
I find the will to move from where I've stood rooted in place since the moment I felt him behind me. Jasper and Julian had left at his command, leaving me alone to face the beast.
I had been dreading this moment.
The thought of having to face him had been heavy on my mind. All day, I had tried to distract myself from the evitable wrath that would ensue at his return.
"Are you afraid?" His voice is quiet and all the more menacing.
In his eyes, a storm raged, promising destruction in its wake.
Was I afraid? Hell yes.
I do not dare meet his penetrating gaze, in fear that he might come to know just how terrified I am.
"You have no power over me." I refuse to let him see the effect he has on me.
I look down at my feet, fidgeting with my fingers.
