Ron's POV

It was now Monday morning and Madam Pomphrey gave me permission to leave the infirmary. I should've been thrilled since I hadn't had a feast meal in a while, but I guess my mind just wasn't into it. I kept thinking about what had happened with Hermione. What had come over me for me to say that? I do not know. I felt sort of relieved when the guys busted into the infirmary, but I also felt like I wanted for them to combust into ashes and evaporate leaving me and Hermione alone.

I passed several first years and they gasped and pointed, whispering amongst themselves as they saw me. I smirked and kept limping through the corridors to the Great Hall. I entered and half of the room fell silent. The Slytherins kept snickering but everyone else was staring at me. I guess the news traveled quickly.

I limped awkwardly to the Gryffindor table and dropped next to Dean and a random guy I'd never seen before.

"Hey, guys. Have you guys seen Harry?" I looked at the other guy that was next to Dean and realized that I'd heard of him. Harry mentioned when he visited me in the infirmary that there was a transfer from Ilvermorny (A/N: the wizarding school in America for those who don't know:) in our year and he was staying with us in the dorm. Seamus's mom had gone missing during the war, so he had not come back to Hogwarts to look for her, leaving a free spot for this guy to come in. He was about as tall as me but had sandy-colored hair. He had very dark tanned skin and girls would stare at his blue eyes. I personally didn't get what the girls saw in him.

"The one with the round glasses?" He had a very noticeable American accent. I nodded "He ran over to the ginger girl and carried her out of the Hall. Don't know where he went though" I felt Dean stiffen and looked over where he was looking at. Harry had come back with a giggling Ginny on her shoulders. I scowled and turned to look away. Even though I said I was okay with them being together, it was still weird seeing them together. They ran over to the table but sat at the end that where no one was sitting. I looked away. I had to get used to it.

"Anyway, is Hermione around?" The new guy shrugged, and Dean turned to look at me

"Parvati said that she was in the library and she would meet you guys at History of Magic" I groaned and slumped my head on the table. The new guy cleared his throat.

"I'm still sort of new here. Would you mind showing me where this class is?" Dean didn't have History of Magic, so it had to be me.

"Yeah sure. I'm Ron by the way. I don't think we've met"

"Yeah, I'm Jason. But everyone calls me Jay" I stood and limped with him towards History of Magic as I stuffed my sweater in my backpack. I wanted to sleep comfortably during Professor Binn's class.

"What happened to your foot?"

I told him casually "I got attacked by a griffin and had to get a couple of my bones regrown" He raised his eyebrows and then nodded with respect and kept walking with a smile on his face. A girl ran past us and shoved Jason slightly on the shoulder. She turned and blushed, quickly apologizing. He smiled smugly and she ran off.

We got to the class and Hermione was already there speaking with Professor Binns' ghost. I smiled at the sight of her. It's not like she tried to look good. I mean, she was dressed in her usual robes and her hair loose behind her. Hermione had always been cute, but she was starting to look really beautiful (A/N: only the real ones will get the quote). Jason next to me straightened and looked her up and down. I scowled. I was not liking this guy. Who does he think he is looking at my... at Hermione like that?

I cleared my throat "Well, the guy Hermione's talking to, that's Professor Binns"

"Wow, we don't have ghost teachers in Ilvermorny. They're all... you know, alive"
