Ron's POV

A/N: just to warn yall this is a short chapter because I just really want yall to read the next one. I'm going to post this and like 5 minutes later the next chapter :) I hope yall like it ❤❤❤

I slumped on the bench of the Gryffindor table ready to eat dinner after a horrible day. Hermione had called in sick and had not gone to any of her classes. I angrily piled my plate with food. I didn't like Jay but what he did was beyond anything I'd expected. Dumbledore had expelled him, of course. Jay was sent back to America last night and the Americans would punish him as they saw fit. I'd done a little bit of punishing myself last night, but it was nowhere near what he deserved. I cut my steak angrily and stuffed it in my mouth. I felt terrible for Hermione. We were in a weird situation. We'd been mad at each other before and now it was hard to be mad given what had just happened. She'd just been... abused! I couldn't possibly imagine what she felt. I saw Ginny being taken out of the Hall by a boy and groaned. I wish Harry and Ginny would be more discrete about when they go and make out, but I turned around and saw Harry sitting across from me talking with Neville. Oh no, not again. I was going to turn to Harry when...

"Ahem...Ron?"

I look up to see Amelia Travers from Ravenclaw standing next to me. She looked kind of flushed for some reason.

"Um, hey. Amelia, right?" her cheeks turned a soft shade of pink.

"Yeah. I just wanted to give you this" she handed me a small notebook. "They're my Arithmancy notes from today. We covered a new topic and I thought you could give them to Hermione since she didn't come to class today."

"Oh, yeah she'll want these. I'll go in a minute, thanks." she looked a little bit hesitant.

"Do you have any idea why she didn't come to class? She would never skip class unless absolutely necessary. I'd hate to think something bad happened to her..." she looked at me expectantly.

"Well, maybe you should ask her. It wouldn't be for me to tell anyway" I stand up and she blushes.

"Right, I'll ask her" she leaned forward and squeezed my arm "Tell her to come find me, will you?" and with that, she walked back to her friends at the Ravenclaw table. I forgot about telling Harry and picked up my bag and headed back to the Gryffindor tower. I climbed through the portrait hole and found Hermione in the empty common room sitting on a loveseat by the fire working on something. She quickly turned to see who it was and caught me staring at her.

"Ron," she said with a tone of surprise "You're back from dinner early,"

I walked over to her and she stood from her seat to look taller, which was useless since I was about a head taller than her.

"Yeah...um Amelia Travers gave me her notes from Arithmancy. She said you might want them. Something about a new topic, whatever that means" Her eyes widened.

"Oh, I missed a lot then. I should've gone to class today" she sat back down on her loveseat with a sigh. I stood there awkwardly next to her.

"Well given what you went through, I'd say it was a good idea you slept in" she grimaced slightly and unconsciously touched her side. I frowned. Before I knew it, I'd placed my hand on her side and lifted the hem of her shirt slightly. There was a small scar underneath. I scowled.

"He did hurt you" her expression turned sad.

"It's nothing" I was not having it.

"That is most certainly something!" she stood angrily.

"Yeah, well what do you want me to say? You were right? Well, you were. I should've stayed away from him. Hope you're happy now" she was about to storm off, but I grabbed her hand and held her back. She gasped and looked into my eyes with tears in hers. I realized that I was reminding her of him. I realized he'd grabbed her just like this. I realized that what was behind those eyes was fear. I dropped her hand placed my hand softly on her neck caressing her cheek. I softly pulled her forehead up to mine.

"Nothing about what happened to you could make me happy" she sighed softly and closed her eyes, calming herself down slowly. "I thought Jay was a jerk, but I never thought he would... do that" she opened her eyes and looked into my eyes.

"I can't get it out of my head" she whispered softly, and a tear fell down her cheek. I leaned forward and kissed it away at her jaw. Woah, that was bold. How did I... I don't know. I leaned away and looked her in the eyes, holding her gaze.

"Think of something else" I smiled shyly at her "Anything else because I'm here to apologize" She leaned back slightly and just then did we realize that my arms were around her.

I cleared my throat "I had no business telling you who to be with and who not. I guess I was...jealous" I looked away and cursed myself silently.

"I know," she said and I looked back at her "Just remember, that you can tell me when something bothers you, and then we can work out how we'll... approach things" Heat rushed up to my neck and my ears turned scarlet. I nodded and slowly let her go. She shuffled back, wiping her hands on her skirt nervously.

"I...um, have this potions essay to do. Do you think you could help me?" I quickly changed the subject with all my bravery gone. She smirked at me. Now we were in our usual places, her being in control and teaching me around.

"I'll do the introduction, that's all," she said and sat back down on her chair and I sat on the couch next to her. I had to ask her, and I had to do it soon.
