Letters to Chen

The Twelfth Letter

Dear Chen, 

Today, our school's first semester ended. In other words, half of the school year is over.

I am genuinely happy. Really.

Also, the students were dismissed early. It seems like everyone was preparing to go out with their friends...

Even if things have quieted down around me now, I'm still probably considered a loner.

But I did not mind going home straight at all, since this is the day that your letters usually arrive.

One genuine friend is better than many distant ones, right?

Fortunately for you, I feel the same way :)

Don't worry about having a lack of support in school, since you spend only about one fourth of your whole life there.

Oh, and I understand that this "exchanging of letters" is for your literature project. Am I helping you get a good grade?

And how do you prove to your teacher that you are actually doing the project assigned?
