I needed to talk to Lilly. Something good for me had happened. And I didn't know how to tell her in person at lunch in a few minutes so I am going to text her while my teacher isn't looking.

I told Lilly bye and my teacher told us to walk quietly to lunch. I didn't argue it meant I get to see Matt.

I walked into the cafeteria and spotted Lilly and Matt sitting in their usual spot. But there was a problem when I got to the table, Dan was in my seat and wouldn't budge no matter how many times Lilly and Matt tried.

"It's okay guys, I'll sit somewhere else." Lilly looked at me with the look of, 'sorry,' on her face. She even seen my eyes water.

I eventually had to sit by myself, or so I thought until his hand touched my shoulder.

"Hey man, we tried to get him to move." He sat down beside me and Lilly sat across smiling at us.

"What?" Matt asked.

"Nothing, I just think it's cool that you stand up for him."

"Okay, I stand up for you too and you don't smile at me like that," he snapped back.

"Why do you have to stand up for her?" I had to ask.

"Uh, you haven't heard how everyone talks about her, there are things she's called that I personally don't have in my vocabulary."

"Oh. I'm sorry for bringing it up then."

"It's cool you didn't know."

When I got home I tried to make my mom let me stay home from that family thing.

"But I don't feel good, please."

"Are you serious? You don't feel good after I just told you you were going?"

"Mom please. My friends want me to go with them to, uh, their other friends baby,uh, shower." I wasn't gonna tell her I was going to a party.

"Danny, your coming with me and that's it."
