Chapter Thirteen : Family Photo Opp.
August 2018There were rules in the Molina household. No one touched Julie's instruments, no one touched Jay's Camera. Especially right around this time, just a few weeks before school starts.
The two attend a 7-12 special arts school. Julie for music and Jay for photography. Now Jay would never understand it but the school also offered a writing program which is how he and Connor met Roslyn. So he wasn't complaining.
Connor on the other hand had lived down the road from the Molina's as long as Jay could remember. The beginning of the friendship was odd. Their parents were envied to some barbecue together and forced their children to be around each other, because 'A pregnant woman shouldn't have to deal with twins' Connor's mother would tell the kids. Julie had run off as soon as she saw a violin by the backdoor, so it was just Connor and Jay.
The two didn't really like each other until a camera was placed in their hands. Then it was like they were raised as siblings. Insteprable.
When Jay had gotten his first REAL camera it was as if he had an awakening. Forgetting everything Julie told him about muise, and how 'it's good for the soul' he just wanted to take pictures.Fast forward 11 years and the Molina's stood in their backyard as Jay held up his camera like it was an angel. Julie was pulling at her dress like she was five because she was claimed it was too short. And Carlose keep trying to pull off the suit jacket their mother was making him wear. But Jay was fine with his simply because he had a camera.
"Car. the less annoying you are about this, the quicker I can take the picture!" Jay yelled at his younger brother, fed up with him, each picture he took, becoming more and more out of focus.
"Easy for you to say, you're not in the dumb photo." The youngest Molina child muttered under his breath earring a light slap on the shoulder from his mother.
Jay chuckled a bit, comments like that made Julie the black sheep of the family. "Either way, this picture is getting taken." While he had the chance Jay took a few photos. He got about one he was proud of before Carlos started to complain again.
Jay's Mother sighed, "Jay, Dear. Why don't you take some pictures of your sister." the twins laughed before walking around to the front of the house. Julie posed like a supermodel getting Jay to laugh as the pictures went smoother than the family ones.
It came to a point where Julie was leaning against trees as Jay got close ups of her face framed with leaves. They got to a point where they forgot this was meant to be Christmas pictures and just turned into Jay earning himself extra credit later in the year.
"Jay! Jules!" Carlos called to his older sibling coming around the house, "What are you doing?"
"I have 3 kegabites on this sim card, if I have to hand it in to mom at the end of the day, I'm gonna use all of it." Jay snapped back at his little brother, taking a few more pictures of his sister.Carlos rolled his eyes, "Whatever." Julie just laughed at her brothers taking the camera from Jay's hands and running to their mom's studio. A very pissed off Jay chasing after her.
