Chapter Sixteen : Flash Back
Seventh Grade, 2014

Jay and Julie couldn't help but stare at their new school. How their parents afford it was a mystery to the both of them. Julie's hand found its way to her twins. They may be in 7th grade but this was uncharted territory. Rich kid territory.

Carrie Wilson trotted up to the twins, "Look who it is?" There was no sarcasm in her voice at all. She was actually happy to see the twins, maybe she could even push Julie into joining her new band. Dirty Candy. "How'd you two climb these stairs?"
    Jay scoffed, "With our legs."
Carrie placed her hand on Jay's shoulder, "I was kidding. I hope to see you guys around."
    "Hope." Julie repeated.

A whistle mixed with a laugh sounded around the doors, "Molina and his twin!" Connor yelled seeing the two and clapping his hand on Jay's back, "Look who made it."
Jay rolled his hand away with a laugh, Julie blushing a deep pink. "Hey C."

"Well." Carrie spoke again, "What are we waiting for?"

The day was over. And the twins never felt better. They felt like they belonged. Julie was in a pack, not shining sure, but everyone around her understood the itch to touch any interment in the room.

As for Jay, he couldn't be better. The whole day was picture after picture, and just getting to know the rest of the class. The two had met up at lunch and neither could shut up.

Connor met Jay at his locker. The last bell of the day rang strong in their ears. "What's taking you so long?" The brown hair boy complained to his friend.

"I had to find my locker." Jay said with a shrug, unlocking the blue metal case.

A girl came bounding down the hall, her hands full of an already messy biner even though it was the first day of the semester. Her hair was messy in the back, falling out of the neat braid it was in that morning. Her shoe was untied and her lip was being eaten apart by her teeth.

She stopped at the locker right across the hall from Jay. She was muttering to herself as pages of her rough draft started to fall from her binder. "Great going Rose, can't even open a damn locker."

Connor cleared his throat, "Maybe you would be able to if you, well you know, used your backpack."
The girl rolled her eyes, "Shove it....." She turned to face the two boys, stopping at the place she would normally  place a name in the sentence.

Jay picked it up quick, seeing as Julie did it all the time, "Connor. His name's Connor."
"Shove it Connor. And the.. Other one."
Connor let go of a laugh, "His name is Jay. Well James, but no one calls him that. Other than his siblings when they want to piss him off his parents when he's mad and...."
"James!" A perky voice yelled down the hall.

"And Carrie." Connor finished. "What might your name be sweetheart?" He added a fake southern accent to the words.

The girl rolled her eyes again, "First, don't try to flirt your not very good at it, and Second. My name is Rose. Well Roslyn but that's reserved for my grandmother only."
Carrie came down the hall, "Who might you be?" The question was directed at Rose.

"A demon. These two summoned me from hell." Rose snapped back, leaning on her still unlocked locker.

Jay snickered, "Yeah. I need something to knock Julie off her high horse, remind her I'm older." He quickly added to the joke. Jay and Rose looked at each other for a second.

An unspoken conversation happened then. One started a friendship that would last for years.
