You held out your hands, your palms open and ready to be taken. Bertholdt's eyes flickered; the fear was so easily seen in the depths of his green pools. Your feet balanced precariously over the edge of the branch, struggling to remain perfectly in-between the emptiness below and the frail branch that was supporting you. Your [e/c] eyes glittered with anticipation; an excitement that was barely concealed riveted itself to your mind, begging to be diffused. Your green cloak undulated in the soft breeze; the fabric flapped as if it were flying free, as if it had nothing else to care about.

Come on; there's nothing to be afraid of.
We'll be safe,
just hold onto me,
and we'll be more than fine;
hold my hands and jump.

The man shifted on the branch, noticing how, with every passing second, it seemed to dip lower.

"[Name]," he cautioned. "Are you sure about this?"

Although he meant to sound firm, his voice came out as a soft tremble. You tilted your head to the side, letting the stick lurch downwards. Your fragile figure plummeted, and along with that the overgrowing crack of wood. A strangled cry escaped from Bertholdt's mouth; his needs shook violently as he visualized your limp body, lying broken on the ground.

Why do you doubt me?
I'll be fine,
safe;
just come with me.
don't be afraid,
just hold onto me,
and we'll be more than fine;
hold my hands and jump.

A resounding, jovial laugh neared as you flew upwards to meet his shocked visage. You hung, suspended in midair, like the sun pausing to rest while traveling through the sky. Blinded by the light in your orbs, Bertholdt didn't notice how you latched onto his arm and pulled him down until the top of the tremendously tall tree seemed further away. The wind buffeted the two of you, and you held on to the man, laughing carelessly into the sky. He had his eyes open, marveling in the violent colors swimming around his vision. He saw you, crying out to the sky, and let his worries slip away. The world brightened, and the flare of the sun haloed the outlines of your bodies. You let him grip your waist and flung your hands upwards, not knowing where the sky was.

We're falling,
and it's so exhilarating,
there's wind everywhere,
it hurts my ears,
but this is the best thing,
I've done so far,
and because you're here with me,
I feel even better;
we're more than fine,
we're free,
and it's all because,
we held hands,
and jumped.

You could see the scarlet, fiery, harsh colors of the elevated pile of leaves coming closer and closer.

"Look!" you breathed.

"I see it!" Bertholdt responded. He tensed, waiting for the shattering impact to reach him. He let your laugh enter his soul and relieve him of his worries.

It's almost done.
It's almost done.

You shrieked happily as you hit the pile of leaves; the sound of crackling colors and cheers greeted the two of you. The members of the Corps chanted your names, increasing the volume of the cheer that told all of what you did. Bertholdt pecked your lips, reveling in the bliss of the brief kiss.

You smiled and carefully picked yourself up, letting the man take you in his arms and help you off. The pile was sunken, the leaves scattered about the ground. You allowed yourself to be carried to the others, swinging your legs happily.

It was bliss. It was beautiful.
And you stood in the center of it with the man of your life.

It's over,
and look,
look,
look,

don't you see?
We jumped.
We jumped.
We
 jumped.
