You grabbed his hand, wanting him to turn back and look at you. You needed him to see you as you were, how you needed him by your side.

"Levi, Levi, please." Your pleading voice registered one glance, one glimpse of his silver eyes. It was enough for you. It was enough. You let go, mustering a crumbling smile. He grimaced and shuffled away, not wanting to meet your eyes. 

You didn't understand. Why? Why would he be so ashamed of looking at you? The two of you came together because of the distress, misery emitting from all the failing expeditions and it began as just that.

But you? You just had to fall. You had to fall deep into the arms that would evaporate as soon as you made contact. But you didn't care. You kept falling and falling and falling, clinging onto a hope that was not there. Really, it was hopeless, and yet you still clung.

He didn't love you and it was so very obvious he didn't. But you chose to oblivious to the signs, oblivious to the way he scorned you - the way he would always acknowledged you with disgust, as if you were some vulgar being. These signs were knives to your heart, and yet you still refused to pull them out and finally face the truth. 

How did you ever come to love someone who didn't give a shit about you?

You always cried in the corner when things got too hard, when even being with Levi couldn't mend the wounds inflicted upon you. You wish he would come and comfort you, hold you in his arms until you both fell asleep. But he didn't. You understood why and yet you persisted relentlessly to acquire a spot in his heart. You didn't care if that spot was the smallest slivers of love. As long as you had a place, you would be fine.

But you didn't. And it wasn't fine. Nothing was.

No one saw you as you jumped, the flash of green sailing down. You didn't feel yourself hitting the ground, you didn't feel the crack of bones, the slowly pooling blood spreading out underneath you. You only felt the stabbing shards of glass in your soul, penetrating the only good left in you, penetrating the innocence you oh-so carefully saved. Your love dripped out along with the scarlet liquid, seeping into the ground and staining the grass around you. Your eyes closed and a smile graced your lips. Now you were able to watch your love from afar without feeling the hurt, the overwhelming depression that finally dragged you down.

There was so much calamity when they found your body. No one could believe that you, a quiet shell of a girl, could do such a thing to yourself. When they called Levi over to question him because of his position over you, he couldn't believe it as well. Your death broke his heart. He kept his secret too long because he was cowardly. Humanity's Strongest, a coward. Absurd, it was so absurd. But the concept, the idea was true. He didn't want to see your smile, the smile that appeared only in death. But he looked, he looked and regretted ignoring you and your pleas, you and your beautiful eyes.

He held your hand; for the first time he made affectionate contact with you. He crowed your name, lost and confused. His mind was fogged with regrets, things he could have done right but did wrong.

"Please, [name]." 

Everyone abandoned you upon his orders. He wanted to see you alone, alone where he could mourn without anyone disturbing the two f you.

"Please."

He knew the cracked words coming out of his mouth were no use; you were gone forever. He didn't stop saying these things, however. There was too much to be said to you and there was no time for them. You were gone,

gone.

"Please, [Name]. Stay with me."

If only he said those words earlier, when you were still breathing.
