The morning sun is bright gold as it climbs the mountains and streams through the windows. I stop sweeping for a moment to gaze at its brilliance, then go back to brushing the dirt into small piles. After that is done I walk up two flights of stairs, passing the bathrooms and extra rooms that we don't use. At the top of the stairs is a door and a hallway that go left and right. The door in front of me is George, Layla and Mimi's bedroom. To the left is a room full of Mimi's drawings, most are strange figures that are shown stretching and bending on the walls. To the right is the laundry room and storage. I knock twice on the large wooden door in font of me, when I get no reply I open the door and see three children snoring loudly on a bed. I watch in amusement as Mimi produces a sound similar to a pig's snort then rolls over, her arm fall over the edge of the bed. I walk over to them, bending down I jostle them until they wake up, they groan and mumble something in inaudible then fall back asleep. With a sigh I walk over to the shades that cover the window so the blaring morning sunshine does not come in, and move them gently aside. Instantly they jump out of bed, now wide awake, and hurry to get on their clothes. Shaking my head I make my way back downstairs.
It has been about two years since that day. After we escaped the robots, we wandered for a long time before coming upon a clear, open land. Here we decided to build a new cottage. Once that was completed we settled in, starting a farm and a garden, which Layla, George and Mimi spend most of their time in.
After much research and hard work I found out a way to convert sunlight into energy that I use to power myself. I built a machine that has a cord that connects to the back of my skull. It is the only thing that reminds me of the life I used to have.
We have been able to stay out of the radar of the robots even though I know one day we will have to relocate, but as long as we are together, I do not care.
So, we shall live on our days, laughing and smiling. We shall live on watching the morning and evening sun, watching the stars and the moon. We shall continue growing and learning, and you never know, maybe someday we will find another person, who is lost and need a home. Maybe they will stumble upon our small cottage, hungry and alone, without a family. We will be waiting, with open arms.
Author: This is the last chapter, next is the epilogue! It seems that I always say that the next chapter will be coming out shortly and then it takes forever..... sorry about that. So I won't say that, I will only say this it will come out eventually, but most likely not in a month, it will be sooner that...... hopefully. Anyways, like and comment, tell me what you think!
