Tick Tock
Tick Tock
Tick Tock
The clock went on and on, the constant ringing buzzing around my ears and annoying me to the point where I wanted to break the machine. I took a deep breath as I clutched onto the end of my dress tighter, my knuckles turning white.
"Ms. Lee?" a soft voice called out and I looked up at the sound of my surname.
"Just Ashlyn." I replied before standing up and brushing myself off.
The female in front of me slightly nodded before beckoning me to follow her. I did as she asked, trying to keep my face neutral the entire time.
The woman led me into a square shaped office with just a single desk, an accompanying chair, and a large brown bulletin hung up on the once milky white walls behind.
"Ms. Lee?" said a new voice.
"Ashlyn." I repeated my name to the male who had called me.
He was sitting in his chair, arms on his lap and legs crossed. His face was scrunched in concentration, the eyebrows titled for focus. He was wearing dark blue work pants and a tucked in white shirt, a maroon sweater over it covering most of the whiteness. Shoulders were broad, making his handsome face stand out more.
"Take a seat." his smooth voice commanded and I obeyed, sitting in a chair I hadn't noticed in front of his desk.
"I trust you know why you are here?" the male asked, his eyebrows raising.
I nodded, not allowing myself to speak.
"Where are my manners? My name is Kim Seokjin." the man identified himself and held out his hand.
I hesitated, before taking it and giving a small shake.
"Lee Ashlyn." I muttered although I was sure he already knew.
"Ashlyn, is that an American name?" Seokjin asked and I nodded.
"My father was Korean and my mother was American."
Seokjin pulled out a small yellow notebook and produced a dark blue near black pen from his pocket.
"Can you tell me more about yourself?" he asked.
I mentally sighed.
"My full name is Lee Suyeon Ashlyn and i'm korean American. I was born in America and moved to Korea when I was 13. I'm currently 19 years old and I was born on January 18, 2001. Anything else?" I asked, giving the man enough specifics on my life.
"Yes, how did you meet Kim Sunwoo?" he asked.
I felt my insides freeze at the sound of that name. I could hear a faint ringing and in the corner of my eyes, I saw Seokjin look up and eye me through his silver glasses that I didn't know he had put on.
"I met him when I was 16 years old. He..." I stuttered, my voice cracking.
I was going to cry, I knew it. I hated this.
Seokjin looked alarmed at the sight of my sudden tears and immediately pulled out a tissue and handed it to me, looking awkward yet understanding.
"I apologize." Seokjin muttered but I could tell he was starting to become impatient.
After all, who had time for a whiny teenager?
I let out a shaky breath and closed my eyes, images of a handsome, red haired boy filling my mind.
No. I didn't want to think of him.
I let out another breath before continuing.
"I met him when I was 16 and he..." I paused
"He saved my life."
