I entered my apartment feeling nervous.
When I had first decided to talk to this 'ghost', I was confident, thinking I had no reason to be scared. But, now that I think about it, he's a ghost! Why wouldn't I be scared?
Sunwoo followed me into the apartment.
I turned around, catching sight of his handsome face looking around with a familiarity shining in his eyes.
Damn it, his eyes.
I shut my own and looked away, unable to bear the thought of him alive and with me again.
"So are you finally ready to talk to me?"
My eyes shot open and I looked at the male with wide eyes.
"Ashlyn, I'm not going to hurt you okay? It's really me.." Sunwoo replied, his tone sounding kind of annoyed and impatient.
"Prove it." I finally spoke back, crossing my arms and glaring at the man.
"How?" he groaned, rolling his eyes.
"I don't know! What's something about me other's don't know!" I yelled, throwing my hands up in the air.
Sunwoo didn't reply, instead, he seemed to be thinking about something.
"You have a scar on your shoulder." he finally whispered.
I felt my inside's freeze.
"Y-You! How do you know that?" I asked in pure horror.
I felt like someone had grabbed a baseball bat and hit me on my head as hard as they could.
"You told me back when I was alive." he simply replied.
"Back when you were alive?" I scoffed in response.
Sunwoo glared at me.
"Then you must know who did it." I replied, suddenly realizing that.
"Yes."
In that one second, all the anger in the room seemed to disappear. A secret that I had never even muttered out loud to myself, a secret I had only told Kim Sunwoo, was just said out loud.
"Sunwoo..." I whispered in disbelief.
"Now you believe me?" he asked, rolling his eyes again.
"Y...You're here! How?" I breathed out, not sure what to feel.
He was real, how else was he supposed to know about the scar? I had only ever told Sunwoo.
"I'm still dead." he sighed.
but I didn't really care.
I stepped towards him and Sunwoo's eyes widened.
"What are you doing?" he asked in confusion when I stepped closer.
I slowly raised my hand and watched as it drifted towards Sunwoo's frozen and pale face.
My fingers couldn't feel anything.
There was absolutely nothing there, nothing in the place where Sunwoo's cheek was supposed to be.
Sunwoo's hand flinched, as if he wanted to grab something.
I blinked and sighed before retreating my hand.
There was silence between us as I process my thoughts. I had a lot of questions and I needed Sunwoo to answer them all.
"How is this possible?" I finally asked.
"Honestly, I have no idea. All I know is that I woke up dead in a burned house and searched for you at once only to find out no one could see my and I could walk through solid things." he replied, shrugging.
"Why were you searching for me?" I asked, my eyes tearing at the thought of Sunwoo waking up alone the way he did.
Sunwoo's eyes widened again at the question and for a second, I thought I saw his cheeks turn pink.
"W...Well who else was I supposed to search for?" he asked, stuttering and then walking away to the couch.
I nodded, deciding to ignore the momentary blush and join Sunwoo on the ouch. Another round silence was met between us as no words passed by.
and then he spoke.
"Ashlyn, I'm not alive but I'm not completely dead either" Sunwoo said, making me more confused than I already was.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"Okay, this is going to take a while." Sunwoo sighed.
"We have forever!" I said quickly.
Sunwoo stared at me and I blushed, looking away.
Even dead he makes me feel flustered.
"When you die, you go to the afterlife unless you have been murdered. Why? Because you need to avenge your death and find who killed you. When someone gets murdered, if anyone cared about them, they can see each other. For example, you cared about me while I was still alive so you can see me while others can't. Only one person can see us 'ghosts'." he said as I payed attention to every word.
"That's why I can see you?" I asked and he nodded.
"and no one else can?"
Sunwoo didn't reply. He seemed to fall into deep thought and for a whole 10 seconds, I wondered if he had forgotten about me.
"No one else can see me." he answered and I sighed, disappointed.
"but Sunwoo, The Boyz miss you." I muttered and watched as his face expression changed to a disturbed one.
"I wish I could be with them. You know, I hadn't met them for a while before I had died." he said, looking away, eyes looking into the distance.
"Oh." was the only thing I could say.
"Anyway!" he said, clapping his hands as I jumped in shock.
"I need you to help me find whoever killed me so that I can peacefully leave to the afterlife." he said, nodding at me.
It took me a few seconds to register what he just said.
"What!? You want me to help you catch a murderer!" I asked in shock and he nodded.
"How can I do that?" I exclaimed, standing up.
"Ash, you're smart and I know you'll help me no matter what." he replied, following my action and standing up.
He called me Ash.
I closed my eyes, breathing deeply.
"Ok." I sighed again, "Okay".
Sunwoo needed my help and honestly, he was right. I would help him no matter what. I couldn't leave him like this and let him be in misery for the rest of his life or whatever he's in.
Of course I would help him.
"Where do we begin?"
