Hiding

"3...2...1...GO!"

Annabeth sprinted as fast as she could in the direction of the beach, hearing Grover's muttering behind her, counting down from five hundred.

She saw the other players all sprinting in different directions. It seemed like Piper was headed to the beach also, Annabeth wasn't worried, she didn't plan to actually hide at the beach, just to run there and then change course for the rock wall, where she had found the perfect spot earlier. She wasn't nervous. She was a daughter of Athena. Athena always has a plan. And so, in order to preserve her reputation and her pride, she also had a plan. In addition, everyone who was found in the massive game of hide-and-go-seek, besides the winner of course, had to pay the winner ten drachmas. And, it couldn't hurt to have some spare change lying around. Considering how many people were playing, Annabeth could have well over two hundred drachma by the end of this round alone.

Annabeth reached the path that led to the beach and immediately took off to the right through the sand dunes in the direction of the wall, she could see it towering over the trees, lava still spewing from the top. She ran through the trees, looking around and stepping on only rocks and solid ground to avoid making noise and alerting her location. It was a free day around camp, which meant no classes. That also meant to majority of the campers were at the lake, leaving the camp for the most part deserted, perfect for a multi-hour camp wide counselor game of hide -and-go- seek.

Annabeth approached the empty rock wall, scanning her surrounding and slowing to a walk to the equipment shed. She opened the door to the very small building and slipped inside, being careful to go unnoticed. After she was inside she relaxed a bit, and walked around the counter to a small trapdoor she had found the previous day. Little light streamed through the clouded windows of the shed-giving it a calm but somewhat eerie look. Annabeth squeezed into the door, dropping down into a small room that was dimly lit, a small stretch of windows just peeking above ground on the right hand wall.  It was probably five feet by seven feet long. Annabeth had no clue what it was meant for. Maybe old electrical panels or something? It had a flush wood flooring which Annabeth had placed blankets and pillows in the day before. It was just tall enough that she could sit up comfortably. She grabbed the book she had placed inside earlier and began to read.

After probably thirty seconds she heard the creaking of footsteps above her. No way Grover and Frank were here already. Annabeth knew her spot was safe and she wouldn't be found even if they checked the shed, still she was frozen in place. The padding of footsteps stopped and Annabeth crawled over to a hole in the floor to see if she could see anything. Sure enough she saw Percy, crouching behind the counter above her.

"Percy!" She hissed, trying to get his attention, "Percy!"

Annabeth watched as Percy glanced around frantically, trying to figure out where her voice was coming from. She crawled over to the trapdoor and popped it open a bit. "Percy!" She whispered with urgency.

He spotted her and his eyes widened he slid to the ground near her.

"What are you doing here! This is my spot!" She complained in a hushed tone.

"It's not your spot! Besides, How'd you get down there? What is that? I didn't know there was a door there?"

Annabeth rolled her eyes, contemplating telling him off versus inviting him inside. On one hand she could have peace and quiet with her book all day. On the other hand she could hang out with her cute boyfriend all day. It was a tough choice, but she chose the latter. She rolled her eyes. "Come on." She said, opening the trap door and motioning for him to come in.

Percy glanced around for a second and then slid in next to her. Shutting the trap door on top of them with a piercing bang.

"Percy!" Annabeth scolded.
