"So 'Beth, when is he coming?"

Annabeth glared at me. "Any minute now. And don't call me Beth. No ones allowed to call me Beth."

I rolled my eyes playfully and laughed. "Whatever."

Victoria, my girlfriend, starting pulling sandwiches out of her backpack. We were eating in Central Park in a semi-sunny spot on the grass. It was peaceful, nice to be deep in the park and away from the loud noise in the city.

"Matthew, PB+J." Victoria said, handing me my sandwich.

I accepted it graciously. "Thank you." I said, sitting up and peeling off the wrapper, I brushed some of her jet black hair out of her pale face.

"Annabeth," Victoria said, hesitantly, "Are you sure Percy's coming? It's been twenty minutes." She brushed some crumbs off of her yellow dress.

I nodded in agreement. Annabeth was one of our friends from school and today we were meeting her boyfriend for the first time. It was only the third week of September, our school had started two weeks ago. It was a small private school, we were seniors. Annabeth was a new student this year, Victoria met her in one of her crazy advanced classes and we all became friends.

"Yeah Annabeth. You don't think he blew you off right?"

Annabeth immediately shook her head. "Definitely not. He's just late, coming straight from school. He's always late."

Victoria looked at me uneasily but nodded.

Suddenly a black haired boy emerged from behind a tree next to me, behind Annabeth, seemingly coming from no where. He was extremely handsome. Jet black messy hair sat atop his head, like a permanent bed-head look. He had startling sea green eyes and a goofy, lopsided smile. He wore a blue sweatshirt and white shorts that went just above the knee, contrasting his tan. He looked strong, muscular but lean. He may have been the most attractive guy I'd ever seen.

Annabeth hadn't noticed him, but Victoria had. Was this Percy? Annabeth stood up. "Maybe he just cant find us." She scanned the area with her stormy eyes, blowing a loose strand of blonde hair that fell from her casual ponytail, framing her face. She had on a simple pair of light blue ripped jeans and a white tank top, standard Annabeth attire.

The boy walked up to us, still obstructed from Annabeth's view. She was still scanning the area when he wrapped his strong arms around her waist tightly, pulling her towards him. He was grinning. Annabeth expression matched his instantly as she stumbled back. She crossed her arms on his, covering his hands with her own. She leaned back into him and turned her head to look at him. "Hey."

"Hi." He said softly. He gave her a soft kiss. "Sorry I took so long. I actually left the apartment early but ran into some, uh, cheerleaders on the way over. Then I couldn't find you guys."

Annabeth smiled. "No problem. We just pulled out the food." She grabbed his hand and pulled him down to sit beside her on the blanket.

"It's great to meet you guys. I'm Percy. Annabeth's told me a lot about you both." He smiled and held out his hand for a firm handshake. I clasped it and shook it, trying to seem as confident as Percy. I glanced at Victoria as she shook his hand, making sure she wasn't fawning over him like many other people on the lawn were.

"Matt, Vicks boyfriend." I said, half joking.

She rolled her eyes and smiled at me. "Victoria. Good to meet you." She said to Percy.

"I'm surprised we haven't met already, considering Annabeth and I live together."

My eyes widened a bit but I got my reaction under control. Annabeth never told us this. "You live together?"
