BEFORE HOO POST PJO

___

Percy stared down at his geometry homework from his bed- which he was starting to seriously outgrow, he'd have to talk to Chiron about that. Maybe it was the fact that camp usually didn't mean sitting down and doing homework, but Percy was feeling particularly distracted.

Percy looked up as the door clicked open, revealing his gorgeous girlfriend. She smiled at him from across the room.

Originally, their relationship had been a little awkward. The feelings were obviously there but they didn't know how to go from teasing each other relentlessly to cuddling and kissing. They figured it out and now- two months in, they were pros. And Percy never would've guessed and Annabeth would never admit it, but she loved to cuddle, even more than Percy did.

He smiled wide up at her, moving his homework to the floor and scooting over, holding out his arms in a gimme motion.

"Hey," She said, coming over to kiss him before falling into his arms.

"Hi. What have you been up to?" He asked, tracing a scar on her thigh. It was still hot at camp despite it being October so Annabeth was wearing shorts and a tank top.

She smiled. "Not much. Teaching some year rounders to judo flip."

He groaned. "Do we really need anyone else around here to know that? I'm getting bruises on my back."

She laughed, propping herself up against the wall, sitting criss cross. His eyes drifted from her eyes and lips to her shoulder. A large, still-red scar the width of a pencil contrasted her golden tan skin. Smaller, white scars littered the surrounding area. He reached out to trace it. Annabeth settled down and watched him, looking between the scar and his furrowed expression. There was still a groove, which Percy knew from experience meant that it was very deep and very painful- especially if the scar had been treated with nectar, which he knew it had been.

Suddenly he was transported back on the battle field. Annabeth in a pool of blood on the floor and him swinging his sword wildly at everything and anything that comes close. Kronos' golden body is across the bridge, watching him curiously and laughing.

He blinked back to reality where Annabeth is studying him, leaning forward with her hand on his cheek. He doesn't remember her ever putting it there.

"Percy?" Annabeth says. It sounds like it's not the first time she's said it but he can't recall her calling his name before.

Percy swallows, looking back at her eyes and taking his hand from her scar. "Sorry." He took a deep breath. "I don't know what happened. Flashback or something maybe."

He glanced back at the scar and Annabeth followed his gaze, a concerned expression on her face.

"I'm okay you know." She said, scooting forward to him. "It doesn't hurt or anything. I promise."

"But it did." He said, his eyes brimming with tears.

"Oh, Percy." Anna etc said, moving up next to him and cupping his face.

Percy looked away. "I can't believe you took that knife for me, Beth. That must've hurt so bad."

"Hey, I'm fine. And yes, I took it for you but also for everyone else, okay? That was my war sacrifice. If you died we would've fell apart and I'd be actually dead."

He nodded. He knew she was right but he couldn't help but think how much pain he'd caused her and everyone else. "I know- I just," His voice cracked as he tried to figure out what to say next. "I just hate seeing you hurt."

"And I would hate seeing you dead. It's okay. You can't protect me all the time. You have to let me protect you a little. Besides, I'm okay now."

He traced her scar once more before tearing his eyes off of it, "Lets go meet everyone at the pavilion. I think they're all there right now." He suggested, moving to stand up.

Annabeth pushed him back down, handing him his unfinished homework. "No, no. You have to finish this."

"Can't you just do it for me? One time? Pretty please?"

Ananbeth rolled her eyes. "No! You have to do it yourself."

He grinned. "Either you do it and we get a little alone time or I march out of here and have Leo do it."

"Percy-"

Percy cut her off with a kiss, leaning into her and moving his homework onto the floor. He muttered against her soft lips, "So.... Alone time or Leo right now?"

Annabeth pushed his chest playfully, getting up from the bed. "Neither. You're doing it right now."

"But...." He trailed off, noticing a determined look on her face. He sighed. There was no getting out of this one.

"Come on. Desk. It'll help you focus. And I'll read until you're finished." She said, pulling a book out of her back pocket.

He groaned but obliged moving to the desk. After a few problems, he fixed his posture and looked behind him at Annabeth. Her lips were slightly parted and she rested a pencil between her teeth. Her brows furrowed as her eyes drifted across the page. She glanced up at him, smiling at him, smiling at her. "What?" She asked.

He blushed furiously. "Nothing. You're just pretty."

She rolled her eyes, dog-earring her book page and walking across the cabin to Percy. He turned back around, embarrassed by the lack of work on the page, scrambling to figure out the next problem.

Annabeth came up behind him, sliding her hands from his shoulders down his chest, bending down to kiss his neck. "Come on." She whispered, sending chills down his spine, making him drop his pencil.

"X is four and the mean proportional is nine." She said, picking up the pencil and scribbling the answers down on the page.

He immediately swiveled his head to meet her lips. "I knew you'd do it."

She pushed him back with one hand, still pulling him back towards the bed by the next with the other. "Shut up." She mumbled.
