"Have you heard? Another person was arrested because they suspected he is a super."

"Yeah, I even heard that the police is trying to arrest the Knight. The people of Nival are pissed about that though."

Kaleo didn't mean to hear it, but that was one of the unfortunate effects of his superpower. The headphones were there to avoid that from happening, and he wasn't wearing them today, leaving it around his neck.

After the submission of his writing, which he wrote his heart out for, anxiety plagued his thoughts. Over the past couple of days, the police ramped up their search for unregistered supers - as expected, no one came up and admitted they were a super.

Naturally, the press was no better. Articles after articles of how dangerous supers were, talks about how the imprisoned supervillains, Razen and Nyx, would eventually escape and wreck havoc again in Vale... and how stronger measures should be taken to make sure that never happen.

It disturbed him that they talked of them like monsters, not humans. Sure, they broke the law, but they never killed anyone. Perhaps he was being naive, but he believed that they could become better people if the right help was given.

"Hey, you took a while," Sonya said, leaning back on the park bench.

"Sorry..." Kaleo mumbled. "So, why did you call me to meet? I thought you said we should lie low for now."

"I got it. Enough evidence to bring down the People's Echoes and its guilty associates."

A glimmer of good news in such times. "That's great," he said, widening his eyes. "How did you get it?"

Sonya smiled. "As eager as they were in taking advantage of the situation, they got careless. Simple stuff, but people fall for it all the time."

"What... will happen to the employees? Do you know any way I can help?"

"No, but you'll see what will happen," she said. "You won't mind if I delay the release of evidence, will you? The current situation is not ideal for it, so I would like to wait for the right moment."

There was the slightest hint of a smirk on her face, as if she knew when the right moment would be.

"Sure."

"Great. See you after the storm."

After waving an awkward goodbye, Kaleo headed to the book club building. Even in the club room, he could almost hear the anxiety of the members in the room.

"Matilda Payne strikes again," Helen spoke in a sarcastic tone. "How surprising- oh hi Kaleo."

"Hi..."

He sat next to Lysa.

In attempt to change the mood, William spoke. "Hey guys, have you read the third book of the Flawless series? It turned out that Deirdre is actually-"

"No spoilers!" Cailin spoke in mock horror. As she tried to jab him, he dodged it narrowly.

"Okay, okay, no spoilers..." he said with a sigh. "But the chapter called 'The Wanderer' was really awesome."

"William, I can talk to you about it if you like," Lysa offered. "I've caught up with all of Chen Lin Ji's stories."

"Yes! I see you are a person of culture as well."

Kaleo let them be and looked around. "It's strange to not see Jones around," he remarked.

"Oh, don't worry about him," Irvin said. "I heard he's assisting with the fire investigations to properly determine the causes. He used to be a firefighter, you see."
