Jungkook tiredly cleared the shop's shelf of nearly expired food from the refrigerator into a plastic basket, planning on restocking the shelves later. His eyes dropped, he could barely keep them open while he forced himself to slave away for a measly income which wasn't worthy of his labour. He hated the night shifts
He was grateful for the food coming to near death, meaning he can eat it for free. He was finally going to eat dinner. His breakfast wasn't much to tie him over which just so happen to be some crisps from the vending machine and a cookie from the kind man in the old fashioned cafe which he is growing to adore.
Jungkook carried the basket to behind the counter and sat on the painfully hard stool which his boss was kind enough to leave out for him. Large brown eyes slowly grazing across the large selection of food made a faint find its way to his delicate ruby lips. Jungkook was going to have breakfast tomorrow.
The food will be expired by then but his iron built stomach evolved into surviving off of the scraps he could gather for himself, even if they were gone off.
"Yoongi is looking out for you." He told himself as took a rice ball- a day off- and happily ate it, relieved to finally be eating something for so long.
He searched through the box and cheered up even more when found a carton of banana milk. It was labelled to be expired that morning but Jungkook didn't mind a little sour tasting since he was grateful to have it in the first place. He had no reason to be picky.
Jungkook forced himself to stop when he began to feel nauseous. He was still hungry but his body refused for him to endings any more in the food that could potentially lead to his death. Since there was still some left, he packed it away into a paper bag for later before trying to relax for once.
Taking out his phone, he quickly glanced down at the time. There was still an hour left until his shift ended. Three am.
The front door opened with a little ring and immediately Jungkook's anxiety activated. All he wanted and hoped for was that whoever they are, that they would be nice to him.
Slowly fluttering his eyes up, his breath got caught in his throat. The man from the library. He never really thought that the world was so small that he'd meet the same stranger unintentionally in the span of a few hours.
"Hey, I didn't think I would see you so soon." The man cheerfully grinned at the latter. Jungkook just quietly nodded his head in reply. He has always found it difficult to talk to new people. This nice man was no different.
"Did you see the drink I left for you?" He asked, somewhat relieved when Jungkook nodded his head. Part of him was worried that someone would nick it on him while the boy was fast asleep.
"T-thank you..." Jungkook bowed his head and watched as the kind man gave a smile his way and then hid himself amongst the limited amount of isles.
Jungkook couldn't keep an eye on him and instead went back at nibbling on pieces of rotting food that he hid for himself under the table.
The man interrupted his mid feasting by placing some food that he wanted on the table and Jungkook envied him. He couldn't imagine having enough money to spoil himself like that.
Jungkook tiredly scanned the items, feeling weaker and weaker with each piece of food he scanned before placing them in a paper bag. "C-cash or card, Sir?"
"Cash," he smiled before handing a paper note and leaving with the bag in hand. Jungkook's frown deepened, he was so tired. He needed to rest.

Jungkook woke up from his bed with a cry as he heard someone banging on his door. He dragged himself across the dirty floor that was his bedroom and made it out to the hallway where the loud noises just seemed to have gotten louder and louder. Causing a headache to erupt in his skull.
