Chapter 1 - Relationships

"WATCH OUT SETH!!" I screamed at the top of my lungs into my mic, probably bursting Seths eardrums.

"Woah, CHILL. I'm just scouting the area. I've got this bro." He told me in a somewhat irritated tone.

"I'm not a 'bro' BRO. And just watch out, you're going to get us KILLED." I shot back at him.

By now you've probably noticed that we're playing a game. And if you haven't... well now you know.

We were playing a game called The Lunar Effect on our computers. In this game you got to create your own character (which was one of my favorite aspects) your character could be anything supernatural- from a werewolf to a pixie. People probably wouldn't want to be a pixie though giving that they're the weakest you can have in the game, unless you're level 50+.

In the game I was a witch and Seth was a shapeshifter and we were on a challenge to get to a haunted palace and defeat a boss, while trying to avoid the Shadowless, which Seth was doing a terrible job of might I add. It was kind of a cliché storyline, but I couldn't help but love it.

Bzz, bzz

"Seth hold on I got a text, I'm going to exit the game so I don't die. Watch your ass and try not to die, for the love of food." I practically pleaded exiting the game. And yes, yes I did say 'for the love of food' because I love food with a passion that burns within my soul.

It's that serious.

"Fine." Seth grumbled. He sounded like a little kid. It was kind of adorable.

I took off my headset and went to look at my phone which was on the desk next to me.

It was my friend Claire Crest. She had been my friend since preschool. She was really perky and happy all the time, opposite to her twin sister Saige. Well she wasn't a complete downer, but compared to Claire, she was laid back. Saige and I had more in common and we had been friends since preschool also, but me and Claire talked more ever since Saige got into a relationship with Derek... Don't even get me started with that.

As soon and I saw that she read the message I got a Skype call.

I groaned, but answered nontheless.

As soon as her smiling face popped up I felt happy and smiled back.

Claire had pale skin and crystal blue eyes that were always lit up. She had her naturally blonde hair dyed a pastel pink with a variation of other pastel colors.

"Hey Ness!" She said way to close to the mic for my comfort.

"Ow, my eardrums you're going to make me deaf. Back up some. Ok thats good. Hi Claire. What's Up?"

"Geez, pushy. And Up is a movie, but that's not important." She said glaring at me at first, but then going back to he cheerful self.

"What's so important that you can't tell me via text?" I asked truly curious.

"You're not going to believe it! I thought I would never see this day, but it has happened, It finally happened." She rambled on.

"Yeah, yeah you can't believe it, yadda yadda. Just tell me already, would you? While I'm still young." I told her and rolled my eyes getting slightly irritated that she hadn't told me yet.

"Saige broke up with Derek."

Her statement had left me shocked and I had my mouth agape.

"Close your mouth, you'll catch flies." Claire said probably waiting for a reaction from me.

"She DID?! Thats awesome, where is she? When did this happen?" I asked spewing out questions.

"She's at Skylar's house." She said sounding bummed.

"Aw, now I can't tell her 'I told you so' I guess it can wait."

"Yup. Sooo..." She said trailing the 'o' "How's Seth?"

"Ugh, probably still playing TLE, I can get him to come down here if you want." I said with a knowing look on my face. Claire has had a MAJOR crush on Seth since 5th grade and we're in 10th grade now.

Claire's cheeks turned a rose color and she said "Umm... sure."

"Kay, hold on." I said then got my headset, turned it on and yelled "SETH CLAIRE WANTS TO SPEAK TO YOU COME DOWN HERE, NOW!"

"Shit! You scared the hell out of me. I'm comming just gotta get to a checkpoint." He paused for a second the said, "Ok comming."

I turned my headset off again and laughed to myself about how easily scared Seth was, then I noticed how much Claire was blushing.

"Aw, you look adorable when you blush." I said talking in baby talk.

"Shut up Ness." Claire said sounding and looking severly ticked.

"Don't be so grumpy." I said and frowned at her. That's when I heard Seth comming down the stares.

When Seth got into the room Claire was staring at me murderously and if I didn't know her better I probably would've been scared. I just looked at her with a smile on my face.

Seth sat next to me and looked at the screen.

"Hey Claire. Why do you look so scary baby girl?" He said with his eyebrow raised.

Seth always called Claire that because we've known eachother forever and that was 'their thing', but it never failed to make Claire blush.

"Umm... N-no reason."Claire stuttered and I rolled my eyes.

"Okay, so what's u-"I cut him off before he said 'up' because I knew perfectly well what 'Up' was already. He looked at me questioningly then said, "How's life?"

"Life will be life." She said trying to no avail to act nonchalant.

"Can't argue with that." He said

"Ugh, you guys are lame. Claire, you should come over and hang out." I suggested since she could be over in a few minute because she was my neighbor.

"Okie dokie, I'll be over in a bit!" She said and then hung up.

I then turned to Seth and said, "You know she has a HUGE crush on you right?"

"Yup." He said popping the 'p'.

"Oh, and you should invite one of your guy friends over. Perferably Trey."

He raised his eyebrow at me and asked, "You have a thing for Trey?"

"No I just dislike him the least of all your friends and he lives close."

He looked at me suspisiously and shrugged. "Okaaayyy..." he trailed off.
