Meanwhile, back at the campsite, Jin Hai and Luo Li had got a message that Mo Fan would be coming to help them search for Xiu Ying, and they will be arriving at dawn. Jin Hai and Luo Li decide to stay at the camp to wait for them. They are also hoping for Xiu Ying to come back to the campsite before dawn, but she didn't come back.
"Jin Hai, do you think Miss will be okay?"
"She will be okay, don't worry."
"I have been with Miss for three years now, you've been with her the longest, has something like this ever happened?"
"No, this is the first time. I have faith that Miss will return to us soon. Miss is the strongest woman I had ever met."
The sounds of horse hooves were heard from afar. Jin Hai and Luo Li got up from their seats to see who it is. It was Mo Fan and his friend, along with his guards.
Mo Fan got down from his horse. Jin Hai and Luo Li bow to show him their respect. "Is Xiu Ying back yet?"
Jin Hai shook his head. "No, Miss had not come back since last night."
Mo Fan had a worried look on his face. A hand came from behind to hold his shoulder. It was his friend. "Rest assured, we will find her."
Mo Fan nodded his head. He then introduced his friend to Jin Hai and Luo Li. "This is my friend, Cheng-Ming, he will be helping us out."
"Nice to meet you," said Cheng-Ming smiling at Jin Hai and Luo Li. They then give Mo Fan a "Can this man be trusted?" look.
"You guys don't have to worry; I'm not a bad person. I just wanted to help a friend out." Cheng-Ming looked at Mo Fan. "My uncle is a merchant, and he's traveling in the river next to us. He will send us information if he finds anyone suspicious in the water."
Jin Hai and Luo Li just give him a nod. Mo Fan then decided that's enough for introductions, and they start to dispersed to look for Xiu Ying.
After a while of searching, one of Mo Fan's guards call for him. "Young master! Young master!"
Mo Fan, Cheng-Ming, Jin Hai, and Luo Li ran over to the guard.
"What is it?"
"Young master, I found some footprints around a cliff."
"A cliff? Show me to it."
Mo Fan and their face became dark. The guard took them to the cliff where Xiu Ying and Feng Yu fell off from. "Here are the footprints; they lead off the cliff."
Mo Fan's heart dropped to the ground. 'These can't be her footprints.'
"I also found this pendant next to the cliff." The guard handed Mo Fan a jade dragon pendant.
"This dragon pendant belongs to Xiu Ying. Uncle gave it to her on her tenth birthday. This can't be...."
"Calm down, Mo Fan! There's the river below the cliff. This river leads to the Lotus City. Lotus City has a lot of fishermen; she might have gotten help from one of them last night and got taken there. My uncle is also heading there; he knows the people there so we can get help from him."
"Thanks a lot, Cheng-Ming."
Before leaving the cliff, Mo Fan sent his guards back to the capital to send his father a message that he, Cheng-Ming, Jin Hai, and Luo Li would be heading to Lotus Town to look for Xiu Ying.
