Day Sixteen

[ Main Scripture : John 15:3]

"You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you."

  — John 15:3 (NKJV)

The word of God makes us pure. Each time we interact with Jesus through His word, He makes us clean. His word washes us. Purifies us. And sanctifies us.

The more we study His word, the cleaner we become. Each new day that comes, we are exposed to many filthy things. Only the word of God can purify us. Without that word, we remain in our filth.

Jesus said, the things that defile a man come from within. So how can we filter out all the impurities within us? Only by the word of God.

"There is nothing that enters a man from outside which can defile him; but the things which come out of him, those are the things that defile a man."
  — Mar 7:15 (NKJV)

So the bible says, "But the things which come out of him, those are the things that defile a man."

he Greek translation of the word 'defile' means UNCLEAN. Or something that is polluted. As long as we are not in any kind of relationship with Jesus, we are filled up with many wrong things.

But Jesus says, "You are already clean through the word I have spoken to you."

The Greek word for Word is logos. Logos is the eternal word we read in the Bible. Logos is the word that has been settled in Heaven.

"Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven."
  — Ps 119:89 (NKJV)

Logos is the settled word of God. The word that is fulfilled no matter what.

Here's a question though. How can the word of God become a revelation to us? How does God's word become real and active? You see, the word we read is just ink and words. But that word can become personal when we change the way we receive it.

"So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."
  — Rom 10:17 (NKJV)

The bible says, "Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."

How do you hear the word? You must understand that hearing this word is not hearing the word from a preacher. No! But the word we read actually has a voice and we have to be discerning enough to hear.

But in this Scripture, a different Greek word is used for 'Word.' It's not Logos, which is the Spoken word but now its Rhema. Rhema is the personal word of God.

For us to receive the word of God, it has to become personal. So the word has to transition from being the Spoken word to a word that is personal to us.

"You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you."
  — John 15:3 (NKJV)

The bible says, "You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you."

You are clean not because you did something clean, Or something righteous. You are clean because Jesus says you are clean. Now this word has to  become personal to you.

Father. We thank you. We magnify your name. We glorify you. We worship you. There is none like you. Lord, we appreciate you for what you do and who you are to us. Thank you for mercy. Thank you for your grace. Thank you for your goodness. Thank you for your kindness. Father we receive the word today. Which declares we are clean. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
