Day Eighteen
[ Main Scripture : John 16:7-11]
John 16 (NKJV)
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
⁷ Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
⁸ And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
⁹ of sin, because they do not believe in Me;
¹⁰ of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more;
¹¹ of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.
The Holy Spirit is Jesus unlimited. Jesus
was only able to reach out to a number of people. But the Holy Spirit can reach out to everyone of us in our great numbers.
How could it be to our advantage that Jesus should leave? Its only because the Holy Spirit would do what Jesus did with His disciples while He lived On earth. What is the function of the Holy Spirit? His main function is to reveal Jesus Christ to us.
He convicts of sin. He convicts of righteousness. He also convicts of judgement. We need the Holy Spirit because He tells us when we do wrong. He tells us when we are walking in the wrong path. He is the one who makes us choose the right things.
He is a person and only abides in us as we will for Him to live in us. He doesn't force His way onto us.So it was to our advantage that Jesus should leave. The Helper can only come when Jesus ascends.
Father, we thank you. Help us to make room for the presence of your Holy Spirit. He is our ever present Helper. We bless your name O Father. We thank you. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
