Hey. Me again. Should I put it from Renee or Val's perspective? Hmm, I think I'll do Renee. You know, because I can. Hahahahahmwahahaha-
ANYHOO onward. And sorry for the wait. I forgot-
I'd like to say when I see the Princess, I face her and laugh.
Instead, I dive behind Myra, terrified.
So.
The girl beside her is unfamiliar, but she shares Valarie's look of utter contempt as she stares right at me. She hisses, smiling when I flinch away.
They pick their way forward, matching expressions of disgust on their faces, and to my surprise, Myra goes right up to greet them. Or, at least, the unfamiliar girl. She ignores Valarie.
I, against my better instincts, stand up.
"Kassidy? I thought you were going to wait until the next moon-" Myra starts, but the girl shakes her head.
"I was. But then I found Valarie, so, plans changed."
Valarie looks confused, but only for a second. Then an expression of wicked glee spreads across her face. And understanding. And maybe a little bit of admiration. "Kassidy, you were in there- on purpose?"
Kassidy tosses her dark-brown hair. "Why else?"
Valarie widens her eyes incredulously. "Because they caught you?"
"Never. I stayed with Myra originally. She thought it was a good idea. And it is."
Valarie shrugs. "Okay."
Not at all surprised. Like everything the Kassidy girl just said was perfectly normal.
"We still have to move." Myra reminds everyone. For the first time, Valarie seems to notice the boy with us- and she also seems to recognize him. He grows uncomfortable, shifting from foot to foot.
Her gaze moves to me. Then she turns away again. Pure dismissal.
"Of course." Kassidy says. "To...?"
"Ananessari." Myra informs her. "First we need Lynn, and Jasper's family. And-"
"Alright. How long?"
"Lynn works here. We just left a Blue Star Stone next to her place. She'll be here soon."
"And Jasper, Marcia, Aaron, and Edith?"
"We'll tell them once Lynn arrives."
Kassidy nods, leaning against the wall. I sit down, though the floor is a bit damp in some places. Myra goes over to Kassidy, and the two begin talking in hushed voices. The boy stands to jointhem.
Valarie, meanwhile, remains standing. She surveys the whole place, expressionless except for when her gaze lands on Kassidy.
After far too long, footsteps sound from somewhere behind us.
