There is a moment in everyone's life, when they realise. They realise they've fallen so far, they don't think they'll ever be able to get out of it. Love.
And now, here I was, with my best friend Ronald Weasley, realising that I wanted more than to be just that; his best friend.
I wiped the sweat from my forehead as I squinted my eyes around, looking for a small glint of gold. I was high above the stadium, gripping my broom. Below, I could hear the cheers.
"Go, go, Gryffindor! Go, go, Gryffindor!"
I diverted my eyes to below and saw that the Slytherin chaser was about to throw the Quaffle. 'Please don't let it go in, Weasley,' I thought. There was a sudden uproar from the scarlet end of the stadium. Ron had successfully booted it away. I flew down beside my best friend and gave him a thumbs up. He grinned back at me and I quickly sped off back to my position over the field. I smiled to myself.
Then I heard it. The flutter of wings just behind my left ear. I quickly turned my head and the Snitch was already speeding off. I flew after it, gripping my broom as tight as I could. I saw it change direction and could feel an interception coming. I stuck out my arm and reached with all I could. I felt the cold metal on my fingertips. I lunged forward as much as I could and took a mad swipe in the air.
The Gryffindors cheered heavily. I had caught the Snitch! I held it up in the air for a few moments of glory, laughing. I slowly hovered back to the ground, where the team was high fiving each other.
"Best catch yet!" George Weasley yelled over the noise. I giggled. Fred and George hoisted me into the air.
"Oi! Put her down!" Said Ron jokingly as he came bounding to the team. I hopped back to the ground and flung my arms around Ron. We bounced up and down with excitement.
"That was an amazing save." I said breathlessly.
"Your catch wasn't half bad either." He whispered into my ear.
Fred whistled behind us, and we broke apart quickly, staring at the floor. Luckily I was so exhausted that they didn't notice my face turn the shade of the Gryffindor banners.
Slowly the crowds dispersed from the stadium. Harry came down to meet us on the field.
"That was a brilliant game! Absolutely brilliant." He grinned. I smiled back. We made our way back up to the castle, but Harry went on a different path.
"Where are you going?" I asked.
"Oh, I didn't tell you? I promised Hagrid we would go see him after the game." He said.
I looked at Ron. He shrugged. I always found it quite cute when he was confused.
What do you mean, cute? My mind screamed the second the thought popped into my head. Yet I couldn't help admire the way his face contorted and his eyebrows furrowed in such a quizzical way.
"Come on, then." Ron said, and we went with Harry to Hagrid's hut.

"Ah! Here yeh are. Harry, Ron," Said Hagrid with a big smile on his face. "Y/N," He added with a grin as I closed the door behind me.
"Heard yeh made a beau'iful catch today." Said Hagrid as he started to prepare tea for all of us.
"She was awesome." Said Ron, grabbing a biscuit.
My heart fluttered. Why? He just complimented you. Stop being stupid. I thought. I stayed quiet and just smiled back, but my mind wandered to George whistling at us earlier. The Weasley twins had a thing about shipping me and my best friend since the start of our friendship in the first year, but the comments never bothered me. For some reason, however, this year the comments felt a bit more like an attack - but I would never catch feelings for my best friend; I'm not that pathetic.
