I woke up the next morning with the sun streaming in through my window. The events of last night came back to me. Ginny's bed was empty, presumably she was having breakfast.

"Morning!" Ron said, his face lighting up when I entered the kitchen. Harry and Ginny stared at him, utterly shocked.

"Good morning." I said smiling, sitting down opposite him, next to Ginny.

"What the bloody hell?" Said Harry. I laughed.

"Pass me the juice, Ron." I said. I poured myself a glass. Ron passed me his glass and I filled it for him.

"Stop, stop. What has changed in the past twelve hours that I missed?" Said Ginny. "I thought you guys hated each other."

I looked at Ron who shrugged back. "We figured it out."

Ginny nodded. Ron took a swig of juice.

"So are you guys dating now?" Asked Harry. Ron spat out his juice and I groaned.

"No, Harry." I said, sighing. "We are friends again, is that not enough for you?"

Harry and Ginny both sighed simultaneously. "What's the point, then?" Said Ginny. I gave her a disapproving glance. She giggled.

We spent the morning playing Quidditch and the afternoon helping Mrs Weasley clean the whole house. She was very grateful, but quite fussy too.

"Scrub it harder, Ronald, not faster." She said, as we were all cleaning the table in the kitchen.

"Yeah, Ronald." Ginny repeated once Mrs Weasley left the kitchen. We laughed as Ron threw a wet sponge at her.

"Hey, did Dean get you anything for Christmas?" I asked her. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Harry prick up. Ron looked at Ginny disapprovingly.

"Oh, I dumped him before the holidays."

Ron grinned.

"Oh, good! I thought he wasn't quite good for you. He was a bit thick." Said Ron. I saw Harry smile to himself and I threw him a small wink.

"Oh, what would you know about relationships and girls for any matter!" Said Ginny, rolling her eyes at Ron.

Ron snuck a glance at me and a small smile creeped up on my face, but I hid it and continued cleaning.

We had dinner, delicious as usual. Mrs Weasley reminded us to get our gear sorted, as we were returning to Hogwarts tomorrow. We all groaned. The Burrow was much more fun, especially since Ron and I were on good terms again. I was not looking forward to classes and homework.

"Y/N, would you please help me with the dishes? I know it's a lot dear, but I could really use a hand." Asked Mrs Weasley.

I nodded. Everyone started going upstairs to their rooms.

"I can help her, mum. You've done lots of work today." Said Ron. I smiled at him.

"Oh, thank you, dear." Said Mrs Weasley, kissing Ron's head. He went red and I giggled. She walked out of the kitchen and I could have sworn she winked at me.

Now Ron and I were alone in the kitchen, with piles of dishes to clean. Ron began filling the sink, and I grabbed a drying towel. He began washing the plates, and I dried them up and put them on the rack. We washed the dishes, talking and catching up about our lives. We talked about the Ball and classes and Quidditch. We were soon on the last few dishes.

"Ugh, I hate doing the dishes." Said Ron, watching leftover sauce drip into the sink unpleasantly. "Can't wait until I'm old enough to just use magic." I giggled.

"Then why'd you offer to help?" I said, hoisting myself up to sit on the counter. Ron unplugged the sink and the water washed away.

"Well," He said, going red. "I just wanted to spend some time with you? I dunno." He said, leaning against the counter.

There was a short moment of silence where we stared at each other in the low light of the kitchen lamp and the crickets chirped outside in the dark.

"I missed you." He whispered. My heart fluttered. I played with my Snitch necklace between my fingers.

"I missed you too, Ron."

Ron came over to me and took my hand. I smiled at him but he didn't smile back. He just stared into my eyes.

I suddenly became aware of how close we were. I could see the twinkles in his eyes. I brought my hand up and cupped his face. He breathed in heavily. He moved his face closer to mine. I rested my arms around his neck and played with the back of his hair, breathing in sharply. I closed my eyes and he rested his forehead against mine.

"Y'know, I could still smell your scent in the Amortentia." I whispered, ever so quietly.

"I know. Same for me." He whispered back. I giggled.

"Ronald Weasley, are you sure we're still just friends?" I said jokingly.

We opened our eyes and he looked very dazed and entranced.

"I dunno," He whispered, moving his hand towards my face. He ran a finger across my lips, staring at them. I felt my heart race. I could feel his hot breath. "Would 'just a friend' do this?" He whispered flirtatiously.

I closed my eyes, ready to finally share that moment I dreamed of for a while now. I waited to feel Ron's lips on mine.

But that moment never came. I opened my eyes when I heard a cough from the corner.

Fred had waltzed in, interrupting.

"Oh, hello." He said, smiling suspiciously. "I was just... getting a snack... Did I interrupt something?"

Ron was staring at him. He was shaking. I could see he wanted to shout something, but half the house was asleep.

"Don't mind if I do." He said, pushing between us to get to the biscuit jar. "Woah, I just pushed through a barrier of sexual tension!" He exclaimed.

"Get. Out. Now." Said Ron, red in the face.

"Just wanted a snack and to see how my baby brother was doing." He said cheekily. He went up the stairs with a biscuit and paused before he left.

"Please, if you don't mind. Keep the noise down if you two... you know... "snog"." He said, holding his fingers up in quotation marks. He slipped up the staircase and I looked at Ron.

Ron was visibly mad. I giggled. Of course, he had ruined the moment, but it was still quite funny.

"I'm sorry about him." Said Ron, moving away from me.

"It's okay." I said, hopping down from the counter. We made our way upstairs, said goodnight quickly and I went to my room.

Ginny was reading in her bed. I sat down in my bed and pulled the covers over my head.

"What happened?" Said Ginny. I groaned.

"Did you kiss?" She asked excitedly.

I pulled the blanket off my head. "No. Almost, but your brother, Mr Fred Weasley, came in and ruined it." I said.

Ginny squealed. "What do you mean, almost?" I rolled my eyes and stood up.

"Move over." I said. She made space in her bed. I got under her blanket and I told her everything, the whole Ron saga, both of us constantly giggling. Afterwards we fell asleep in her bed, both of us with satisfied smirks on our faces.
