A/N: Sorry, this is more of a half chapter. My eyes blinked open to a sunrise peaking through the window. The sun had just begun to creep above the skyline, judging by the faint, pale light spilling in from between my curtains, and I mentally pumped my fist. I'd hoped to wake up early today, for plans related to Anti's birthday, but hadn't wanted to risk the noise of my alarm clock. If he knew what I was doing, there wouldn't be much point in getting up at such an ungodly hour.
I began to very carefully detach myself from the koala next to me, who luckily had his arms constricting a pillow instead of my torso. (Not that I ever minded when he latched onto me in his sleep.)
I wiggled sideways, maneuvering my bare foot from under the warmth of the comforter. I set it on the carpeted floor, moving to have my other foot join it.
As soon as I'd pulled myself into a sitting position, I heard a soft, sleepy moan from Anti. I froze, hesitantly following through with the motion of standing.
"Wh're you goin'?", he mumbled, eyes only opened into slits, barely lifting his head.
"To grab some food downstairs.", I whispered back. It wasn't exactly a lie, but I still didn't feel great about it. He seemed content with the answer in his half-conscious state, though, rolling over onto his side and effectively turning his back to me.
"Love you.", he slurred, sentence half-muffled by the pillow. I stiffened, hand half-way to the doorknob. With wide eyes I turned my head to look at him, feeling like someone had just spilled a bucket of ice over me.
He was already asleep again, snoring softly. I could perfectly picture the side of him that was hidden to me; the way his mouth probably hung minutely open, face squished against the pillow that I was sure I had fallen asleep on the night before.
Had he just...?
He had.
My face heated up with such force I could feel it on the wrist I used to brush my hair out of my face. I was sure I was bright pink, a stark contrast to the ghostly pale I had been just a moment before. I took a minute to stare at the door and debate just what the hell had happened, before looking back at his sleeping figure.
"Love you, too.", I murmured, before silently slipping into the hall.
