I pulled into the school parking lot. There were a lot of people here. More than usual.

Every morning, all students had to either go to the cafeteria or the gym. To be with my friends, I usually sat in the gym, waiting for them to come.

After I finally saw my best friend, Demi, and one of my other only friends, Bella, walk into the gym, I knew something was up.

Bella still had the same dyed hair, black jacket, band tee, skinny jeans, and Converse.

Just something seemed different about her. It was how she acted that was different, not the way she dressed.

I just couldn't quite put my finger on it.

"Hey Olivia, do you want to come over to my house after school?" she said as we were entering our last class of the day.

"Maybe tomorrow. I have to study for a math test I have tomorrow." I said, but I honestly was planning to go over to Ashton's house.

It wasn't that I didn't like Bella, it was just that she had no other friends and just to be seen with her was the end of all your other social life.

The bell rang, signaling that the last class was over and it was time to go home.

After I got home at the end of the long bus ride, my phone read:
1 new message from:

Bella
I didn't think you were one of them.

"What do you mean?" I responded.

Bella
You know exactly what I'm talking about.

No,seriously. I have no idea what you're talking about....

Bella
Your "math test"..........

"Oh yeah...." I muttered under my breath, remembering that I had the same math class as Bella.

Look, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have lied to you. I had plans.

Bella
I forgive you. Come over to mine tomorrow after school to make up for it?

ME:
Ugh, I can't. I have work tomorrow. For real.

She never texted me back after that. I tried calling, but she never answered.

Way to go, Olivia.
