I was in the middle of 2nd period when the all-too-familiar noise of the intercom came on.
"All students report to the gym for an assembly!" the voice of the principal blared throughout the classroom.
I didn't know exactly what this was for at first.
As my class filed out of the classroom, I sat still, thinking of what this assembly could be for. We almost never had assemblies, and why would we have one, anyways?
Then it hit me.
The assembly was about Bella.
I completely forgot that her mother had texted me during the night because I never replied!
I sat, petrified in my seat. Everyone was already out of the classroom except the teacher, who was just now leaving.
"You coming, Olivia?"
"Um... Yeah." I replied.
As we made our way to the gym, I saw Bella's parents' car in the parking lot. I had come to know Bella's family almost as a second family, especially during the divorce.
After everyone eventually found our seats in the gym and sat down,the assembly started.
"Hello, students. Now most of you are probably excited to get out of class,but this assembly is very important." the principal said in a monotone voice, empty of any emotion.
"Today, our topic is suicide. Some of you may know more about that subject than others, but none of that matters."
"Last night, Isabella Summers, a student here, took her own life." Right after they said that, Lexi and her friends chuckled.
"What a bitch" I muttered under my breath.
_______15 minutes later________
ASHTON'S POV
As they kept talking about this Isabella girl, Olivia seemed uncomfortable. She was sitting right next to me.
"Is everything okay?" I texted her, because we weren't allowed to talk during assembly's.
"Yeah, it's just that I was really good friends with the girl they were talking about. Why?" she responded quickly.
"Oh, nothing" I typed back
Right after she opened the message, Olivia ran out of the gym into the parking lot.
Was it something I said? I ran off to chase her before the teachers noticed we were gone.
When I got to the parking lot, her car wasn't there. Where had she gone?
