Vote to keep me motivated hahaha.
Jace's POV
"You okay?" I asked, my eyes scanning her face. My legs folded underneath me as I took a seat next to her.
Ivy wholesomely smiled and looked me in my eyes, "Yeah, I'm good."
She shifted her body so that she sat closer to me. I glanced down at her knee that was resting on top of mine and felt her hand accidentally trail down my arm. I heard her inhale excitedly as I handed Ivy her ice lolly I bought from the ice cream truck that Sky forced me to go to.
I secretly admired the way she sat, her gorgeous smile on her lips as she joined in conversation with Sky and my Mom. It was comforting knowing that she got along with the two most important people in my life. I like to keep my family close to me and it's reassuring to know that there won't be a divide between Ivy and my family.
I laughed as she mindlessly sat twisting the bottom part of the tube in between the palms of her hands, "Why the fuck are you doing that?"
She redirected her vision from my Mom to me, "Huh?" She tilted her head slightly to the side in a confused way. I nodded my head towards her hands and she instantly caught onto what I was saying.
"Oh yeah. Well, if you warm up the bottom of the ice lolly before eating it, then it's easier to push up. It's just something I have done since I was a child." I nodded my head when I felt something barge into my back.
"Heyy, Jacey Jacey," Sky aggressively whispered into my ear with her arms tightly wrapped around my neck. She shoved her face into my vision so it she was the only thing I could see. Someone's too fucking hyper.
"Hello, Skylar," I chuckled back. She had now repositioned so that she was sitting on my shoulders, her hair and face in my face. I instinctively held on to her legs so that she didn't fall back. That would have been the last thing we needed happening.
"Guess what?"
"What?"
She giggled, "Me and Ivy are cooler than you," she said dragging out the end of the last word. She jumped off my shoulders and into Ivy's lap. Ivy caught her and laughed surprised at the suddenness of Sky's presence.
"Isn't that right, Ivy?"
They both sat looking directly at me when Ivy said, "Oh yeah. One hundred percent."
Sky smirked and raised her eyebrows at me, her arms crossed in front of her. Fucking traitors.
"Where is your ice cream?" I heard Ivy question Sky. Fair point, where did she put her ice cream?
Sky rolled her eyes and jumped up onto her feet, "I ate it, duh." I caught my Mum glaring at the back of Sky's head due to the insane amount of attitude she had.
"Now let's stop the chit chat and go," Sky said, using her hand to gesture talking at 'chit chat'. Maybe it was a mistake letting her have an ice cream...
I noticed how Ivy nervously giggled as Sky pulled her up onto her feet. She looked at me for reassurance as neither of us knew what was going to happen. I just shrugged my shoulders, not knowing what was going to happen either.
"Come on, Ivy. Stop being so slow!"
"Skylar," my Mom warned. I held back a laugh but was caught when Ivy glanced at me, sending a disapproving look. I just smiled to which she stuck her middle finger up at me. She's lucky Sky didn't catch that.
"And Ivy, take what I said how you want, but it's true," my Mom directed to Ivy, leaving me completely fucking confused as to what had gone on. What's true?
"Come on, let's run away from these annoying people." Sky grabbed Ivy's hand and began dragging her away till Ivy ran beside Sky.
-
We got back home, Sky falling asleep in that car, Ivy snuggled up next to me.
A faint snoring sound came from the right of me. Ivy must have fell asleep. I moved so that I could see her face and sure enough, she was in a light sleep.
She looked so peaceful and innocent in that moment. Her breathing was more shallow than normal, her chest moving with every small breath. Her eyelids hiding her beautiful brown eyes away from me and her soft lips were gently parted. I delicately moved a strand of her mesmerising hair out of her face, careful not to wake her. It had always amazed me how effortlessly beautiful she is even when she was not even trying, just like right now.
Mom carried Sky into the house - it was dark out. We stayed at the park playing for hours obviously making both Sky and Ivy tired.
I nudged her shoulders, attempting to wake her up as softly as I could. I didn't even want to interrupt her, but we couldn't stay in the car all night and after a few attempts, she finally stirred.
"Ivy, baby, we're back home," I whispered kissing her on the side of her head. She rubbed the sleep away from her eyes and stretched her arms.
"I fell asleep?"
"Looks that way," I quietly laughed to myself at how cute she was when she first woke up. She looked at me wide-eyed as I knew the words that I just said took longer for her to process than normal.
"Come on then, let's go inside."
A yawn escaped her mouth as I quickly opened the door and climbed out the car so I was ready to help Ivy out the car. One thing I have noticed is that when she first wakes up, she's more clumsy than normal.
She placed her hand in mine as I helped her out the car and led her into our room for the night.
I laughed as I closed the door of my room behind me, Ivy lying on her front as a result of throwing herself onto the bed. It took no time for her to grab the covers on the bed and cover herself entirely with them, so-much-so, I almost couldn't see her face. I heard her hum as she burrowed her head deeper into the pillow.
I was afraid that she was going to fall asleep in her clothes again. "Princess, don't you want to get changed first? Get some pyjamas on?" I didn't want her to fall asleep and feel uncomfortable. That shit's annoying.
"Nah. Now hurry up and lay next to me, I'm still cold," she whined. She was being bossy.
"That's better," Ivy said as she snuggled onto my chest. The palm of her hand was flat on my hoodie covered chest, her head resting on the on my shoulder. I played with strands of her curly hair, twisting it around my finger. I gently pulled one back and let go of it, watching as it sprung back into place when I thought of something.
I moved Ivy off me, earning me complaints from her as I walked into the bathroom. I grabbed what I needed and got back into bed.
"Baby, your hair is down and you're about to go to sleep." The amount of times she has sat there complaining about how she can't sleep with her hair down otherwise it'll get too knotty came back to me. I didn't want her to have to deal with that tomorrow.
"Whatever." Lazy little shit.
"Sit up then," I said, moving her up. I wasn't going to let her sleep and then be pissed off in the morning because of her hair. If she won't do it, then I will.
I gathered up all her thick hair and carefully wrapped all of it up into a terrible bun. I can't do hair for shit, but I tried.
"Now can I go to sleep?"
"Being a bit of an asshole right now?" I jokingly retorted. I heard Ivy puff and mutter something under her breath, but not once did she move away from me.
My eyes felt heavy as I fully laid down when Ivy spoke again, "Jace?"
"Yeah, baby?"
"Don't leave me again, okay? That was such an asshole thing to do and I don't feel like being hurt again. Don't leave me again," she whispered the last part, signalling that she had fallen into slumber.
I'll try.
