The Present, 2017
My patience is running thin.
As the night drags on, the socially awkward person within me suddenly decide to rear it's ugly head. For the past hour I've been standing in the same corner sipping on my mix of vodka and coke as I watch with rather bored eyes as the crowd raves on.
A small smile graces my face as I spot Yi Seob among the group of dancing bodies, it's obvious that he doesn't get out much, and he's really excited that he got an invite from a celebrity. There was a time when he had a cold personality, glad to see that he's not like that anymore.
As for that celebrity himself, Kwon Ji Yong seems to be enjoying himself with the people around him, and as I stare at his small entourage I wonder how many of them he tried to call last month. If this party wasn't for the success of his album then I would probably decline his offer, I have never been the party type, I get sweaty palms every time I find myself in a crowd.
To be honest, now that I'm looking at him I keep seeing the Kwon Ji Yong from the alleyway. I hope tonight doesn't turn out the way that night did, but at this point all I can do is hope, Ji Yong's an adult who should know what he's doing.
Even though I want to march over to him and tell him that he should limit how many drinks he's having, or to be careful of the creepy looking guys hanging around him, I can't do all of that. I like to believe that humans are free to do whatever it is that they want, and it's up to us to make mistakes and learn from them.
I just wish Ji Yong will get his head on straight. And speak of the devil.
"Lee Hei Ryung!"
He smiles happily at me and I sigh in response, he definitely had too much to drink. "Hello to you too Mr. G Dragon."
His body sways from side to side as he dances slowly to the fast paced music. "What are you doing here by yourself? You should go dance."
I shake my head at him, "I'm not much of a dancer, and I hate crowds."
He nod his head as he sips on his drink, "ah, I see. You know, if you want to talk about anything I'm here."
Oh?
I furrow my eyebrows as I look at him, "you're obviously drunk."
He laughs at my observation, "I think I am. But I'm being serious, you seem a bit distracted so I came to tell you that I'm here if you need anything."
My face breaks out in a smile at the childlike tone he's using right now. "Okay."
He hits his glass on mine as he smiles widely. He begins to look around the VIP section of the club, "oh? My dongsaeng!"
Why is he such a loud drunk?
In that moment, I turn my head out of curiosity, my glass almost fall from my hands as my eyes meet his furious ones. My breath hitches in my throat at the sight of him marching over to us.
I watch as he bows at Ji Yong, "hyung," he then turns his eyes on me and suddenly everyone in the room seem to vanish from my view.
He takes the glass from my hand as he grabs my wrist, "let's go."
I reel at the commanding tone of his voice, "what?"
He hands the glass to Ji Yong who takes it with a look of confusion on his face, since I don't want to create a scene, I follow closely behind him as he pulls on my wrist. This is not what I expected when I thought about seeing him again when he returns.
