Chapter 10

I woke up in Newt’s arms, and remembered what happened last night. I had to tell him. I quickly stood up which startled Newt, waking him up.

“What the-” He started as he rubbed his eyes.

“Newt! I had a memory!” I said and began to tell him everything.

“Wow,” Newt said.

“I know! It’s like I remember you, but I don’t. It’s just so shucked up.” I said. “I-I just need a minute.”

I headed deep into the deadheads thinking about the memory the whole way. How Newt asked me to remember him.

“Ugh!! What the hell!!” I yelled in frustration.

Suddenly a branch broke behind me and I turned around so fast that I almost twisted my ankle. It was only the Greenie.

“Oh hi,” I said.

“Hi,” he responded. “Sorry if I scared you. I just came here to relax for a while.”

“No it’s fine, I came here for the same reason.” I said.

“What’s your name?” I asked.

“Thomas,” he responded holding out his hand.

“I’m Riana,” I said as I took his hand and shook it.

“So how’s your second day in the Glade?” I asked.

“It’s all very confusing. Lots of questions, no answers.” He replied.

“Yeah. All your questions get answered. Eventually.” I said.

“Why are you the only girl here?” Thomas asked.

“I don’t know,” I responded. “We had a gathering about it. I’m glad most of the keepers were on my side.”

Thomas gave me a confused look.

“It’s hard to explain. You’ll understand after Alby gives you a tour,” I said.

“I seriously don’t know what that guy named Gally’s problem is.” Thomas said. “I don’t know why he hates me so much.”

I had completely forgotten about Gally. They must’ve taken him out of the slammer yesterday.

“I don’t know what his problem is, but he hates me too. And I punched him in the face, so yeah.” I said.

I looked up at the sky and saw that it was still dark out. Guess we were up earlier than I thought. I wondered how long we were out here.
