Author's Note -
It broke my heart into a million pieces writing this. Lots of angst.
"Not Foster. Queen Sophie."
The words kept pounding in his head. He had hurt her. Hurt her bad. He didn't have to be an Empath to know that. The anger and hurt she had thrown at him. It was indescribable.
The girl he breathed for, the girl he lived for. The girl he loved. Hated him. The girl he loved hated him.
Why had he listened to Alden? The first time he did that, he lost her once, because Alden told him to "back off". The second time? Sophie looked like she wanted to kill him.
The girl in this palace wasn't his Foster.
So that night, while he watched the stars set, he whispered to himself:
"I love you, Foster. I always have, and always will."
Author's Note
For those of you who have absolutely no idea what Alden did the first time, he basically came to the Shores of Solace before Alvar's Tribunal in Flashback and told him to " back off", so his Fitz could get Sophie.
