Bella grabbed a flyer a senior was passing out as we exited the school.

"You are invited to Rose High's Valentine's Dance!" She read out loud.

"Bring your special someone and have a blast with your friends!" She handed me the flyer to take a look at it.

I rolled my eyes. "Not interested."

Bella stared at me gaping. "We have to go."

"And why is that?"

"Well, Jeremy asked me to go with him and well, you already have Mason."

I stopped walking. "Wait, wait, the same hot senior Jeremy that you had a crush on since 5th grade, asked you out?"

"Oh my god. Yes!" She squealed.

"I'm happy for you Bella, but I'm still not going."

"Awe, c'mon Melissa." Bella pouted.

I continued walking, ignoring Bella's useless begging. It annoyed me how she said I had already "had" Mason. The same Mason that had been ignoring me for the past couple of days. I trying pushing the irritation away, for I had no right to be mad at some guy that ignored me. But, it kept intruding back into my thoughts, making me more furious.

"I'll call you tonight, you are coming to that dance Melissa Becker!" She yelled from behind me as I walked away.

It was incredibly windy today, causing my hair to fly uncontrollably from side to side, making it harder for me to see my way while walking home. I took out a hair band from my backpack, and tied it back. Ever since the incident, my parents assumed that I was too scared to stay alone at home, or to walk alone, but I wasn't. I was only upset on how no one believed what I saw. Except Mason.

"Mason." I said his name out loud with a sigh.

My phone in my pocket vibrated the moment his name lingered on my lips. I received a text from Mason:

"Miss me?"

Perfect timing, I thought. "Nope." I replied.

"Well, I just wanted to point out that you look even more beautiful with your hair up like that. :P"

I stopped walking and started looking around. Was he following me?

I received another text:

"And no, I'm not following you."

A car pulled up next to me, Mason in the driver's seat.

"Want me to drive you home?"

I shook my head and continued walking. "Thanks, but no thanks."

Mason stopped his car and caught up to me. "Okay, I guess I'll walk with you then."

I looked at him holding the urge to smile. "You're an idiot."

"Only for you." He didn't look back at me.

He took out a folded paper from his pocket and gave it to me.

"What's this?" I unfolded it.

"The dance. Do you want to go with me?" The tone in his voice changed, almost making him sound shy.

I thought for a second. "I'm not much of a dancer."

He laughed. "Well you're in luck. As your superhero, I'll teach you."

I laughed. "You're not serious, are you?"

He glanced at me with a grin. "Dead serious."

"Why do you just randomly show up like this?"

Mason looked at me. "Like how?"

"You don't talk to me for days then just show up and make my day with one stupid comment."

"I knew my stupid remarks worked." Mason looked proud. I smacked him playfully.

Once we arrived at my house, Mason gazed into my eyes. His eyes were unreadable.

As much as I try to stay away from you, you allure me right back. A voice echoed in my head.
