12. A Complicated Rescue

Yusuke woke up to the sun's bright rays shining upon his face. He sat up from the bed and rubbed his eyes, trying to wake himself up completely. Feeling sore around his neck, he brought his hand up and lightly stroked the area.

"Ah. Must be from yesterday... She's pretty strong." Thinking of said woman, he looked around the room for her, finding her sleeping at the foot of the bed with a blanket thrown over her. Emil was pressed up against her, looking up when he noticed their visitor was awake.

The dog pounced up, landing on his owner's chest. "Bleegh!" Ooka exclaimed, shooting up into a sitting position from the sudden wake-up call. "Emil! Why!?" She yelled, tackling her dog onto the bed. She pressed her face against his, sluggish with her words, "You know better than to wake me up so early. So whyyyyy?" Emil struggled out of her hold and raised his paw in Yusuke's direction with a huff. Ooka looked up, "Ohh. Freeloader's awake."

Yusuke dully glared at her, "Well you were dragging me everywhere with you yesterday. It was too late for me to travel home. This is your fault."

Ooka pouted, "Alright sassy. The explanation was uncalled for." She stretched out, ready to start the day.

Closely observing her, he noticed that she had small, dark rings developing under her eyes. He yawned, "How long did you sleep for?"

"Ehhh, about 3 hours. I have to make sure I have a concrete plan to get into the building Osa-kun's being kept in. I memorized the layout of the building but I'm missing guard shifts. I'll need to do a stakeout to find my opening." She moved Emil to his bed and stood up. The pup snuggled into the blankets then went snoozed off.

"I'm going to take a shower. We'll leave in half an hour." She went to the bathroom and shut the door.

The blonde looked at the bathroom door as the shower was being turned on. "She's gonna drag me around with her again...?" A loud growl filled the room. Yusuke looked down at his stomach with a bored look, "I'm hungry... "

In the shower, Ooka leaned against the wall as the water rained down, landing on her back. Thinking heavily on her plan, she hadn't noticed the door opening.

"Sho-chan, I'm hungry. Can you hurry up?" Yusuke's voice came from behind the shower curtain.

Ooka screamed in surprise, not expecting him to just walk in. She used the curtains to cover her body and yelled at him, "Why are you in here!?"

"I'm hungry and bored. I want to leave now."

"I'm taking a shower! Can you give me some privacy!?"

He shrugged, "What's privacy?"

She groaned in frustration, "You're not gonna leave, are you?" The boy stayed silent, so she took that as a no. "Uggh, you can stay. But if I see you so much as attempt to take a peek, I am personally delivering your head to Noma."

"Fine by me. You don't have anything to show anyway." A bottle of shampoo was hurled at his head. "Ow."

"Asshole." Ooka resumed her shower while Yusuke sat on top of the sink, waiting. Tired of waiting, he decided to spend his time doing something productive and called Ooka.

"What is it?" She answered, washing her hair.

"Why did you leave Noma-sama?"

She paused for a moment, "Tch. You call me almost killing him leaving? Why do you want to know that?"

"I feel since we were both taken in by him that I should understand why you left."

She leaned against the wall, watching the water go down the drain, "Because I wanted to."
