Summer
"You know you could at least pretend you had a good time," my mom said as the driver parked our car in front of our house.
"Well unlike you mom I'm not very skilled in that area," I retorted.
"You know you should be nicer to your mother young lady," my dad said finally looking up from his laptop.
"I am nice dad," I said walking out of the car and slamming the door.
"Of course you would know that if you chose to take time off work and spend it with your family," I said looking directly at him through the half open window.
"And mom don't forget to give Emily's mom a call. Please." I reminded her knowing she would forget anyway irregardless of the fact that I just reminded her. I just wish they would remember something about me for a change I thought bitterly.
I walked away quickly before this could become another very long, very boring lecture. I was not in the mood, all I really wanted was to get to my bedroom and rest. I really needed it after spending the entire day at my mom's luncheon parties acting like the perfect family when we all know we're far from it.
I kicked off my high heeled shoes as soon as I got into my room. I really hated wearing these but I had to for my mom's luncheon parties which I absolutely hated. Everytime my mom threw one of her extravagant luncheon parties she dolled me up and forced me to go and fake smiles at old rich ladies and pretend to be interested in all their boring conversations. I really hated it but was it actually the only time I could spent time with my mom, because she was too busy being dad's campaign manager.
Almost all the time my mom hosted her parties in our Manor but this time she decided to host somewhere in some fancy garden . I really felt bad for those people they all thought my mom liked them little did they know that they were just pawns in her game. When all she ever wanted from them was connections.
"The business world is ruthless place Summer, so it is of utmost importance to know the kind of people you are dealing with." was what she told me everytime I asked her why she spent so much time around strangers who clearly tolerated her because she was really wealthy.
I looked out the window to see if they had left already but then I noticed a black SUV coming at full speed towards my parents car.
"I wonder which stupid person is driving that car," I said out loud laughing quietly while walking back to my bed but then a loud crash followed.
"Nooo!" I screamed. I panicked, I could feel my heart banging loudly against my ribcage, my mouth was completely dry, my knees felt weak but I didn't care about all that because all that mattered was getting outside.
I ran at full speed pushing everything and everyone in my path but as soon as I run out the front door in the direction of the crash and I saw it blow up.
It blew up.
I tried going to the car but our head of security, Sebastian wouldn't let me. I tried freeing myself from his hands but he wouldn't let me .
"What are you doing? Mom and Dad are in that thing and you're letting them burn alive?" I screamed kicking him with all my might.
"I'm very sorry Ms, Horsley, it's too late. They're beyond saving." He said calmly.
I tried to run but then it exploded for the second time and this time the force explosion left us on the ground. I screamed, I tried to move, I tried to kick my legs but I couldn't move. I tried to stand but my body would not obey me, so I stayed there on our driveway while watching my parents fry to death. What followed this was complete darkness.
I opened my eyes to find myself hyperventilating. I was in a completely white room and there was nothing inside except me. I was sitting in the corner of the room and then I remembered where I was. The mirror room.
My entire body was shaking, my forehead was sweaty and I felt what I had avoided feeling for God knows how long. Memories of my parents death filled my head, the pain, the fire, the smoke and I started screaming involuntarily.
The last thing I remember was a door which I didn't notice was there opening and someone coming in, then a felt a short sharp pain in my leg and then darkness followed.
