| CHAPTER NINE |
LOVESICK TEENAGER.
TWELVE GRIMMAULD PLACE SEEMED A lot quieter now that the kids went back to Hogwarts. Molly and Arthur Weasley both returned back to the Burrow, Remus went back to his cottage (he did visit almost everyday though), Severus obviously went back to Hogwarts as well whilst the rest of the Order were back to work, even Echo found herself being at the Ministry of Magic most days (after all, she was one of the best Aurors in America and the British were more than happy to let her join them).
She did feel bad for leaving Sirius alone for the majority of the days, and even though he assured her he'd be okay, Echo couldn't help but think about him. It seemed that nowadays, when the Order wasn't on her mind, a certain grey eyed man was.
After living in America for so long, the black haired woman had almost forgot the effect Sirius Black had on her. It seemed that whenever he was around, a swarm of butterflies would invade her stomach, her heart would flutter and her whole mood would just change; if she had been angry at something or someone, or if she was in a bad mood, that all seemed to disappear when Sirius entered the room, smiling warmly at her. She almost felt like a lovesick teenager again.
She tried to do everything she physically could to not feel that way, especially not now. There were more important things happening than her potentially falling in love with Sirius Black. Voldemort was back and they could all die at any given day, it was terrifying and it needed her attention more than love did. Plus, she had her new Auror position to maintain and she didn't need any distractions.
The job was almost the same as it was in America apart from all the stares she received from everyone. It seemed that almost everyone had heard of her and knew her backstory, something that made Echo want to crawl into a hole and never come back out of, but she couldn't just do that and she most certainly couldn't run away from her problems like her mum used to, so, instead, she kept her head high and walked with a purpose. The last thing she wanted was for people to think that they were slowly breaking her down.
"How was work?" Sirius questioned as soon as Echo walked into the kitchen. She didn't reply but just turned towards him, an exhausted look in her eyes, "Ah, I see," He nodded understandingly, his eyes showing a hint of worry as Echo practically fell into the chair besides him.
"I don't even want to think about it," She groaned, closing her eyes and sighing in relief.
Sirius kept his eyes on her, just captivated by her beauty. When her eyes closed, her face finally relaxed, softening and contrasting to how annoyed she had looked merely a few seconds earlier. It seemed that she never had to do much to captivate Sirius, simply exist. He couldn't tear his eyes from her and when she lazily opened her eyes, he felt his cheeks burning up as he cleared his throat, annoyed at himself that he was caught staring.
"What do you say to a pizza and a movie?" Sirius finally spoke up, it seemed that he couldn't tear his eyes from Echo's.
The black haired woman grinned tiredly, "That sounds amazing."
