"Hola señores"

Steve and the other man were looking at you. You looked at Steve while trying to figure out what he was thinking. For a second it looked like he didn't recognize you, but you could tell when the realization hit him.

Steve slowly got out of his chair and put his hands on his desk for support.

"(Y/N)?", he asked. " What...What are you doing here?

You looked at the other man who seemed to be completely irritated because he had no idea of what was going on. He suspiciously looked between the two of you. His gaze then landed on you, waiting for you to say something that might explain what was going on.

"I work here. I'm actually starting today," you said and then looked down at your feet.

"What? I don't understand," he said and looked to his partner, seeing the irritated look on his face.

"I'm going to be working with you. I know I should've called first, but seeing as I don't have your number and that you don't want to talk to me, I didn't really see that happening," you told him confidently.

He sighed and ran a hand through his hair. You could tell that he was trying not to look too annoyed, but in all honesty, he wasn't really doing a good job at it.

"I don't really know what to say. I didn't even know that you were in town." Steve said.

" Well, I only arrived yesterday. But it's not like you would have cared if you knew," you told him honestly.

There was an awkward silence. Neither of you knew what to say, and the other man who still hadn't been introduced to you just looked irritated. This certainly wasn't going the way you had hoped it would. You could tell that if his partner wasn't in the room right now, he would be yelling at you and trying to convince you to leave again, not like you could do that.

"As what are you going to be working then? Secretary? You know, we already have one." Steve told you trying to make conversation.

You scoffed, and let out a laugh. Of course. "You know, that's just so typical for you men. I had the exact same reaction at my last job." you passed and laughed again. "I'm going to be working as an agent. I'll be your partner."

Steve seemed to have lost all of his words. You looked from him over to his partner.

"Since Steve apparently isn't going to introduce us, I'll just do it," you said and went over to his partner and held out your hand for him to shake. "I'm (Y/N) García".

"Javier Pena. A pleasure to meet you," he said and shook your hand. After another moment of nobody saying anything, he spoke up again "Now, would anyone like to tell me how you two know each other?"

You looked at Steve, but it didn't look like he was planning on saying anything anytime soon. "I'm his sister", you told the agent and you sat down on the chair in front of Steve's desk.

"Really? I didn't know you had a sister?" he said to Steve.

"That's probably because he doesn't like me", you told Javier who still looked surprised. "He doesn't really like to talk about me, or you know, to me either."

Steve still hadn't said anything. You were looking at him, desperately waiting for him to say something. Anything really.

"You know what, I'm going to take my break a bit earlier so you two can catch up," Javier said and went over to the door out of the office. "I'll see you two in a bit."

Javier left the office, relieved to escape the awkward atmosphere.

"What the fuck, (Y/N)?!" Steve yelled at you so loud, that you were sure everyone one your floor could hear. "Why are you here? Can't you just realize that I don't want anything to do with you?"

"Wow. That's low. Even for you" you sighed. "You know, I don't like this situation either"

"Then why are you even here? Just look for a different job."

You laughed. "You know what, Steve? Vete a la chingada! Who do you even think you are to tell me to quit my job?" you paused and sighed "I knew you weren't going to be happy to see me here, but I would have at least expected you to accept it."

"How am I supposed to just accept this?!" Steve yelled. Neither of you heard the door open. "Why can't you just accept that I don't want you in my life?"

"When are you going to realize that I'm a part of your life and that I'm not planning on changing that anytime soon. I am your sister after all," you told him and went over to stand in front of his desk.

Steve scoffed at the word 'sister'. He certainly didn't think so.

"Please stop trying to shut me out of your life. At some point, you're going to have to realize that what you're doing is wrong," you told him honestly. You went back over to the door where Javier was standing awkwardly. "Voy a ir a la administración para recibir mi pistola y mi chapa." you told Javier who just nodded. And with that, you closed the door behind you and made your way over to administration.

"That went well," you thought and sighed. You couldn't believe this was happening. Why was it so hard for Steve to accept you and to let you into his life? It's not like you chose to follow him here. After all, it was not your fault that you had been transferred to Bogotá.

You let your mind wander while you were waiting for another agent to give you your gun and badge. Honestly, you thought that it had been kind of embarrassing to argue in front of his, well also now your, partner. The agent came back and handed you your badge and gun, telling you to have a nice day. At least some people were nice to you around here.

You went back to your shared office and noticed how Javier and Steve had previously been arguing and that they went quiet as soon as they saw you. After giving the two of them a suspicious look, you sat down at the empty desk in the corner of the room. You could tell that it had only been moved into the room recently, by the way that it looked completely out of place mirroring how you felt right now.

The rest of the day had been awkward, as expected. Steve didn't talk to you at all, so you mostly sat quietly at your desk except for when you need to ask Javier some questions. The three of you were doing paperwork since they needed to get the approval in order to follow any new leads. You could tell that Javier couldn't care less about the paperwork, and honestly, so did you. You were asked to come here because you were one of the best, so you were ready to prove it to them. Maybe then, Steve would finally accept that you were staying.

At around 4:30 PM Steve left the office telling Javier that he wanted to spend some time with his wife who you didn't even know he had. So that only left you and Javier who seemed like he was ready to go soon as well.

That's when it doomed on you. You still didn't have a place to go. Originally, you were hoping to be able to stay with Steve for a while, but that seemed to be off the table.

"mierda," you thought and sighed. What were you going to do now?
