I watered her
But she said it was too much
That I was drowning her
I sheltered her from herself
But she said that was unnecessary
That I did not accept her
I pruned her like she asked
But she told me to stop
That she liked those parts of her
I showed her the sun
But she begged to be back in the shades
It was just too bright
I did all that she asked of me
But she was never pleased
It was never enough
And then I stopped
She cried that I had abandoned her
It was never enough
