"All personnel, evacuation procedure has been confirmed. Proceed to your designated vehicles." The man driving the helicopter said into his microphone. I leaned over Nick and watched people scatter under us like ants. Nick looked out the window with his one good eye, the one that doesn't have an eye patch on it. "This is not a drill. All personnel proceed to your designated vehicles." the helicopter landed and I saw Phil standing a little bit away, his blonde hair was blowing everywhere and I waved at him and nodded his head.

"How bad is it?" Fury asked Phil when we got to him.

"That's the problem, sir. We don't know." Phil reported. Maria stood eager to take orders, she's just that way, but I'm not sure how I feel about this. It's my first really big mission and I'm pretty sure I'm here so nobody else has to feel any pain. I mean I'm all for helping people, there's nothing I love more I'm a doctor for God's sake, but I get tired of being used as a human shield just because I can't die. Nick, Phil and Maria walked in front of me to the elevator and when we were in, Phil started explaining. "Doctor Selvig read an energy search for the Tesseract four hours ago." Phil continued as we walked.

"NASA didn't authorize Selvig to go to test phase." Nick said.

"He wasn't testing it, he wasn't even in the room, spontaneous event." Phil said.

"It just turned it's self on?" Maria asked.

"Where are the energy levels now?" Nick asked, both of them ignoring Maria.

"Climbing, when Selvig couldn't shut it down we ordered the evac."

"How long to get everyone out?"

"Campers should be clear in half an hour."

"Do better." Nick said and we departed from Phil.

"Sir, evacuation may be futile." Maria said to Nick as we walked down the stairs.

"Should we tell them to go back to sleep?" Nick asked.

"If we cant control the Tesseract energy, there may not be a minimum safety distance." Maria said.

"I need you to make sure the Phase Two prototypes are shipped out."

"Sir, is that really a priority right now?"

"Until such time as the world ends we will act as though it intends to spin on." he said leaning against the railing. "Clear out the tech below. Every piece of phase two on a truck and gone." He told her sternly.

"Yes, sir." Maria grumbled and walked away. "With me." Maria demanded two men and they followed her away.

"Jeez, are you the only one who listens around here? Does as you're told?" He somewhat teased me I shrugged and Fury and I walked into Selvig's lab. "Talk to me doctor." Nick said loudly. I looked around the lab. The large, silver machine in the middle of the room was glowing blue from what. I'm assuming, is the Tesseract's light.

"Director," Selvig addressed in his deep southern accent as he stepped down and started towards us.

"Is there anything we know for certain?"

"The Tesseract is misbehaving." Doctor Selvig told him as I walked behind the man that was toying with the tesseract. I watched him poke it and then it shot light. The man that had poked the Tesseract looked a little frightened so I back away and quickly walked back to Nick.

"Is that supposed to be funny?"

"No, it's not supposed to be funny at all. The Tesseract is not only active, she's behaving." Selvig told him as they both made there way over to the Tesseract. I made sure I stood a good way away form it. I don't want it shooting me but it isn't like it would matter anyway, I can't die but I do assume that a shock of pure energy would rather more than hurt me, especially with my senses. "She's an energy source, we turn off the power she turns it back on." the doctor said. "If she reaches peak level-"

"Are we prepared for this, doctor? Harnessing energy from space?" Nick asked.

"We don't have the harness. My calculations are far from complete. She's throwing off interference, radiation, nothing harmful, low levels of gamma rays."

"That can be harmful." Nick said sternly. "Where's Agent Barton?" Nick asked. The doctor scoffed a little.

"The hawk? Up in his nest as usual." Selvig said, pointing with his thumb at where Clint was.

"Agent Barton, report." Nick said into his earpiece. "I gave you this detail so you could keep a close eye on things. " Nick said as we started walking.

"Well, I see better from a distance." Clint answered.

"Have you seen anything that might set this thing off?" Nick asked. As soon as he said that an older woman poked her head out of her work station and called for Selvig.

"Doctor, it's spiking again." she said but Nick and Clint ignored her.

"No one's come or gone." Clint told Nick. "And Selvig's clean, no contacts, no IM's. If there was any tampering, sir, it wasn't at this end."

"At this end?"

"Yea, the cube is a doorway to the other end of space, right?" Clint shrugged. "The door's open from both sides." The Tesseract started making noises and things started shaking things. I stood behind Clint and he looked down at me, then back to the tesseract, I held onto his arm and he stood taller, watching to see what would happen. The Tesseract shot a blue ray of light across the lab and it formed an opening on the wall, opening it and I could see into space. Then, the window to space closed and there was a man crouched there. The guards walked forward with their guns aimed at the man that was standing there. I zoomed in on him, black slicked back hair, brilliantly green eyes, huge. That's Loki, from Asgard.

"Sir, please put down the spear." Nick's voice boomed and echoed off the walls a bit, breaking the total silence that everyone else was probably hearing, though I could hear Loki's, and everyone else's breathings. Loki looked at his staff and then at Nick, then Clint, then me, then back to Nick before he shot a ray of energy at us. I jumped and the ray hit me, sending me down and I'd passed out before I even hit the ground.
