ᴛʜᴇ ᴀᴅᴠᴇɴᴛᴜʀᴇs ᴏғ ᴛʜᴇ ᴍᴀɴʜᴀᴛᴛᴀɴ ɴᴇᴡs ʙᴏʏs (ᴄᴏᴍᴘʟᴇᴛᴇ)

𝚜𝚙𝚘𝚘𝚔𝚢 𝚜𝚣𝚗

spooky szn

where y/n and her housemates (the 1992 newsies) spend halloween getting spooky

decorating

· decorating for halloween in the newsie household is pretty chaotic

· as you can imagine

· the more hands on sorta guys (jack, skittery, kid blink, bumlets, race) are all in charge of the outdoor décor

· they are the ones who climb the ladders to string orange and purple flashing lights around the windows

· it really worries y/n and crutchie when they come outside to check on the progress

· and jack is leaning on the base of the ladder, while skittery is balancing at the top attempting to hang lights off of the window ledge

· bumlets is hammering little solar lights into the ground with the biggest mallet he could have possibly got his hands on

· blink is setting up really cool fake grave stones which have funny comments on

· and race...well race has been put on 'supervising duty'

· and by 'supervising duty' they mean sweeping leaves because he's short and keeps complaining he's cold

· y/n tries to sympathize with him but crutchie keeps laughing which just sets y/n off

· race gets grouchy and just turns away and keeps sweeping

· on the inside of the house

· mush and specs and dutchy are all craving pumpkins

· very safely, may i add

· they all do a very cool job and in total they end up carving like 8 pumpkins between them

· crutchie, sarah and les are making cute decorations out of leaves

· cuz sustainability

· OH and paper chains are all around the house

· y/n, spot and davey are in the kitchen

· yes, spot is helping bake halloween themed cookies

· and he looks so freaking cute covered in flour

· dave is amazing at cooking like wow

· his homemade halloween candy...just superior

· right, when the sun sets and its dark outside, everyone gathers in the front yard

· they all huddle up together

· and watch skittery plug the lights in

· the house just lights up and it's so pretty

· it's a tradition for everyone to watch the lighting ceremony (as les called it)

· they take some photos which get displayed in frames eventually

· the photos are adorable self-timer photos, and everyone is just cheesing

· and AWH, what id give to be a newsie

halloween daytime

· on the morning of halloween the jacobs sleep over and davey ALWAYS makes pancakes

· and they are the best pancakes you'll ever taste

· (if you couldn't tell i heavily headcannon davey as a great chef)

· sarah makes tea and coffee and fresh orange juice

· its just perfect

· after breakfast everyone gets wrapped up and they go for a walk

· a really nice autumn walk, through a forest or something

· they spend forever playing tag or hide and seek

· lets not forget leaf piles!

· where you basically collect all the leaves from the floor and take turns jumping into them

· it ends up as a leaf fight, everyone throwing and kicking old leaves at each other

· and they're all just laughing, and people are staring at the teenagers behaving like children

· but do they care?

· NOPE

· then they walk back to the house

· and les gets tired so they take turns in giving les piggy back rides home

· when they get home, everyone either puts on their comfy clothes or gets dressed up

· most people get dressed up

· what they dress as i will leave up to you lovely people

halloween evening

· on halloween evening they all watch a movie that's not terrifying because they don't wanna scar les

· but they don't get super into it

· they just chat and snack and chill out

· they don't wanna get super invested in the movie because of the trick or treaters

· they take it in turn to answer the door

· right, you cannot tell me that : race, blink, jack, spot and dutchy don't try to scare the poor kids

· sometimes it works and kids leave crying

· and other times they don't care and just want the sweets

· the others chose not to terrify the children and are nice to them

· and its really sweet to see some of the guys with kids

· like skittery with kids omg

· butterflies galore

· halfway through the evening, dave, sarah and les leave

· and on the way home they take less trick or treating

· but before they leave, y/n gives les as many treats as they can get away with

· usually ends up with dave telling them off

· that doesn't stop them though

· when les has gone, everyone gets super comfy

· like they light candles and snuggle under knitted blankets and watch a scary movie

· I want to go into more detail about this eventually

· but let's just say, there's a lot of screeching, hiding behind pillows and holding each other

· all in all the newsies absolutely cherish halloween

· and if you think they go all out at halloween

· wait for christmas
