She sniffed, smiling weakly. "I can't say for sure, but you're pretty smart, so I'll trust you with this one. You have pretty good judgement", she wiped away her tears, "maybe it's even a little naïve, but you have something about you in the way you somehow always see the good in people – even when there isn't any to be found nor the person is deserving of it". You thought of Dabi. Had you been naïve? "In any case, you mentioned you needed Penicillin. Why?", she questioned, straightening her posture. You sighed. "Ah, uh, friend of mine has an infected wound", you explained. She nodded slowly. "Is it one of them?", she lightly motioned over to Dabi and Jason across the street. Your eyebrows went up in surprise. "How did you know?", you mumbled, baffled. "Well, they've been consistently staring at us", she snickered. A small smile of your own rose to your lips. "Yeah", you mumbled, "it's the one with the black hair". She looked over at them, sending them a small nod in acknowledgement. "He's the one who's with you in the league, right?", she asked, keeping her eyes on Dabi. Had Tiffany always been this observant? The fact that she even payed attention to your story had surprised you as well. "Uh, yes", you stuttered, unable to hide the surprise in your voice.
She nodded once more. "I can't decide if he looks hot with some mafia boss vibes or if he looks like a sick Victorian era child that won't make it through the winter", she mumbled. You let out a laugh – the first genuine one in a while now. "My exact thoughts", you snickered. "Yeah, so, I think I can get you some Penicillin", she mumbled thoughtfully, "I still have the keys to my uncle's pharmacy. You know which one to get right?". You nodded. "Yes. Thank you!", you threw your arms around her, giving her a tight hug. "Under one condition", she added. You pulled back in confusion. "Which would be ...?", you asked warily. Lately, all these conditions had let up to you getting wanted and doing bizarre things. "I come with you", she stated, looking you in the eyes. "What?", you blurted out. "It's either I stick with you from now on or you're going to have to resort to more illegal activities, which I can't imagine you being a fan of", she stated matter-of-factly. You opened your mouth to protest yet were cut off by her raising her hand to stop you. "No. That's the deal, unnegotiable", she spoke firmly, leaving no room for argumentation.
"It's going to put you into danger", you pointed out. She let out a humourless laugh. "Y/N. Danger is my middle name", she sighed, "look, I know how to take care of myself and I'm sure I've been in worse situations than you can imagine". You stared at her, curiosity piquing as to what she was talking about, but you chose to disregard it. "Well, you're old enough to take accountability for your own actions", you stated, "so it's all up to you". "Well then, let's go get some Penicillin", she grinned at you. You sent her an unsure smile back, a bad feeling creeping up on you.
You walked across the street, Tiffany by your side, and reached Dabi and Jason. "Took ya long enough", Dabi grumbled, eyeing Tiffany suspiciously. To say the least you were glad Dabi was speaking again. You shortly introduced them to each other. Jason didn't look like he was in the best mood either. "What a bunch of crusty boys", Tiffany whispered to you. You snickered. "Anyways, Tiffany's uncle has a pharmacy. We'll get the Penicillin there, but we'll have to do it once it's dark", you explained.

The sky had taken on a deep, dark blue the first few stars already shining, the last of the sun a light blue hue on the horizon. The four of you were standing on a rooftop opposite the pharmacy, each of you watching the store in silence. Thankfully, it was a comfortable silence, no one requiring to talk. Tiffany was sitting on the edge of the small wall of the roof, her legs crossed over and tentatively watching as her uncle finished up the last of his things. Jason stood to her right, lazily watching as well, most likely in thoughts of his own. You were to Tiffany's left, observing the city lights beyond the pharmacy, Dabi to your left was watching the city lights alongside you. You were so close; you could almost feel his arm brush against yours. It was the exact opposite to the emotional distance between the two of you, in that case it was miles away. You swallowed hard, the emptiness eating at you. What had you done wrong? You had finally started enjoying his company, and then ... you internally groaned. This wasn't the time to think about this.
You were brought back to reality as you heard the door below from the pharmacy shut. Tiffany's uncle took heavy steps towards his car, getting in and driving off only moments later. You looked around at the street. It was suspiciously empty.
"Okay, let's go", Jason mumbled, stepping back. "Isn't it a little too quiet?", you asked, looking after Jason. He stopped for a moment to turn around and ponder, before shaking his head. "I'm sure it's fine", he mumbled. You chewed your lip, every fibre in your being was telling you that something was off, yet you chose to disregard it and trust Jason. It was probably just your anxiety getting the better of you. You followed after Jason, Tiffany catching up next to you. You were glad to have her here, you felt less alone and she brought along some familiarity.
You crossed the street, stopping only for Tiffany to swiftly open the glass door, which matched the rest of the outside walls. They were all made of glass, lightly tinted with lots of advertisements stuck to them. You stepped in after Tiffany, followed by Jason and Dabi. The place smelled of sterile sanitizer and the distinct medical smell that made you crinkle your nose. You looked around, the place was dark, the moonlight outside your only source of light. To your right was the counter with the cashier positioned on it, the computer and some candy in a small box. There were rows of shelves throughout the whole shop stacked with medicine and wall-shelves with even more medicine, except for a small corner in the back which was filled with makeup.
"I don't know what you need, so you can go through the things on your own", Tiffany stated, having just deactivated the alarm system, "I'll be in the back going through the makeup, I'm in dire need of some". You nodded, contemplating why the alarm system hadn't gone off the moment you stepped foot into the store. Maybe it was faulty? You weren't sure. Electrical things weren't really your area of expertise.
You walked through the aisles, you night vision on in order to read the labels on the medicines and to see if any of them were antibiotics. Silence fell over the group once more as everyone busied themselves. Tiffany was in the back testing out makeup, Jason was playing around with computer and Dabi had decided to take some of the candy, sitting on the counter and lazily eating it.
You took out one of the medicines that were on the wall-shelves, your back turned to the front. You turned around the box, scanning through the details. "Y/N!", you had only a split second before you turned to your right and saw Dabi grab your wrist. He pulled you in, hugging you to his chest before he threw the both of you to the ground. Only a small squeak was able to escape you before the roaring noise of bullets being fired thundered through the small store. In your shock, you clutched the medicine tightly to your chest, digging your face into Dabi's chest as his hand wrapped around your back and head, pressing you tightly to him. You pressed your eyes shut, the breaking of glass and booming of the bullets drowning out all else.

A/N: Hii you precious, one-of-a-kind hooman;
Where I'm right now, its summer and ugh. If there's something its made me realize it's 1. I really hate summer, even more than I did last summer and 2. This heat has made me understand that I need to get my life together because I can't go to hell. I apologize to anyone whom I might've offended by hating on the season which brings us warmth, but some of us are literal human soup as we speak.
Anyways, there will be a pretty consistent update of chapters from now on - hope you'll enjoy what's to come. Thanks once more for putting in the time to read my story!!
