The men looked roughed up and dangerous, thugs most likely you assumed. One of them was tall and buff, the other slimmer and smaller, but definitely could still overpower you at any point. You tried to fight a rising panic, much to your avail. Your heart leaped into your throat, your legs became wobbly as dread weighed you down, twisting your gut into tight knots.
It became hard to you breath as you suppressed shivers. You wanted to run - you wanted to run so bad, but fear had frozen you alongside the need to protect the woman. You were sick with terror, but you couldn't make yourself leave the woman. You had a more likely chance of fighting them or surviving them than she had, plus she had a child. What if something happened to either of them? What if the mother died and the child would be left to a cold death or perhaps slavery because of you? What if the child was killed and the mother would be forced to go on living a miserable life, having to live with the death of her child because you ran?
Despite fear having completely consumed you, you stood your ground, facing the men.
Dabi was starting to become impatient. He couldn't stare at the cake rotating on the stand forever. What was taking Y/N so long? He looked over at the ice cream stand. No sight of Y/N, only a rather angry looking man frantically looking around for something or someone. Where was Y/N? He tried to ignore the rising unease, but as it crawled its way into his stomach, he decided to make his way towards the ice cream stand.
The man narrowed his eyes at Dabi as he approached. "Where's the girl with the beanie?", Dabi asked blatantly. The man shrugged irritably. "I don't know. She was supposed to come back here 10 minutes ago", he grunted, "a dollar flew off and she went after it". The unease that had been slowly spreading had now shot throughout his entire body. "Where?", he had to keep himself from grabbing the man by his collar. The man seemed to notice Dabi's anger, motioning down the walkway.
Dabi turned, walking briskly and cursed under his breath. Something was definitely wrong. He nearly walked past an alleyway until something caught his attention. He skidded to a halt, looking into the alleyway. No denying it, that was Y/N's small handbag lying in the middle, its silver cover reflecting against the light from the grey sky.
He rushed towards, picking it up furiously as if it would hold any answers. The moment he picked it up, a whimper sounded next to him. He looked over to see a woman clutching at a white bundle of something tightly. Her face was stained with tears, her eyes large and panicky, blood splatters on her face and on the white cloth. Yet, what drew Dabi to her was the recognizable jersey she wore, the money she was clutching tightly. His eyebrows scrunched up as his eyes ran over the woman, noticing the beanie on the child's head. He had to resist the urge to tear it from the child's head. He had given it to Y/N, and Y/N only.
"Where is she?", he snarled at the woman. She jumped in fear, only whimpering louder. The white bundle in her arms suddenly moved, making a small snivelling tone. Then it clicked in his head. For fucks sake Y/N. God. Why did she have to – why did she have to care?! "Where is she?!", he barked, bending closer. Then something struck him about the blood on the woman's face. It sort of glimmered. He looked closer. It was Y/N's. It was Y/N's blood. He remembered it from Jason's house, when her nose had started bleeding, he had seen how it had spread out on her finger and had contained tiny crystals.
