Life inside the gate had been better than Clarke could have imagined, for six weeks they had been fed, warm, safe, had a purpose and been together. She could sleep without keeping watch and leave the house without worrying about becoming something's dinner. Alicia no longer grabbed her weapon at every little noise, of course she still kept it around. They hadn't even had to kill anything inside of the gate since they arrived and Clarke didn't have to kill anything at all. They each had a job, Clarke was a medic so she usually stayed inside the gate and Alicia went out on supply runs, as she was the most talented with a weapon. Their relationship had grown as well, they were taking things slow, but as they no longer had to worry about dying every second, they had time to get to know each other.

Jack had been around, much to Clarke's dismay, he seemed to be keeping his distance but she didn't like him. She wasn't sure if that was just her fear of losing Alicia, or something more. However, Jack and Alicia had become friends and usually were paired up when on supply runs.

Clarke had spend a lot of the time they had together with a nagging feeling in the back of her mind. That slightly soured every moment. Clarke hadn't said anything else about Lexa since they had arrived, but she still thought of her daily and struggled to separate Lexa and Alicia, as they looked and acted more identical than twins. Occasionally, Alicia would say or do something that only Lexa knew about, but she recognised that was her own hope distorting reality. Lexa was gone. Clarke had started to feel bad about not telling Alicia more about Lexa, Clarke knew she had a right to know. But she couldn't bring herself to ruin what they had made.

Alicia had insisted on decorating the house as much as they could, and would often bring back things she had found on supply runs. They had a few paintings up, blankets on the bed and even a comfortable dog bed for Popeye, who had grown a considerable amount.

A scream pulled Clarke from her thoughts, her body suddenly felt cold and she rushed up the stairs quicker than she thought she could ever move. Alicia was sat in bed, dripping with sweat, pushing the covers off herself frantically and searching her abdomen, almost as if she was in pain.

"Alicia! Alicia what's wrong?" Clarke asked in a shaken up voice, trying to catch Alicia's arms before she hurt herself. Alicia calmed down once she saw Clarke's face and knew where she was. "What's going on?"

"Sorry, I didn't mean to frighten you." Alicia whispered, her voice hoarse. Alicia had been getting nightmares every so often, but the longer they had stayed behind the gate, the worse they had become. She hadn't mentioned them to Clarke, not wanting to worry her, but she had never woken up screaming before. "It was a bad dream."

"Are you sure? You look like you've seen a ghost." Clarke wipes the side of her forehead with care.

"Yeah, I should get ready. We're going on a supply run today."

"Yeah I know, Jack asked me to come. He said the trip would take a few days, that it had now become some sort of recue."

"When did you hear this?" Alicia asked, getting out of the bed.

"He only came around this morning. They heard something on one of the radio's." Clarke explained.

"Oh, I'm glad you're coming." Alicia walked towards the bathroom, planning to get ready. However, she stopped before going in and looked back at Clarke. "Clarke?"

"Yeah?" Clarke asked, having already started packing their overnight bags. Alicia opened her mouth, but no words could come out. She let out a defeated breath and shook her head.

"Nothing, that dream just worried me."

"Do you want to talk about it?" Clarke asked, dropping the things on the bed and standing straight. Alicia shook her head 'no', and went back to getting ready.
