Alicia returned to the community after 76 hours, exhausted, angry, and covered in mud. Nick matched her appearance and exhaustion, glad that they had finally returned. He knew alicia planned to head out again the next morning, determined to find Clarke, or at least what was left of her. Nick had learned his lesson about telling Alicia how pointless the trip out was, considering they had been arguing about it over the last day. He learnt long ago that when Alicia set her mind to something, it was useless fighting her."At least have something to eat before you go." Nick reasoned, holding out a bun to the girl who packed her bag in a rush.
"I don't have time." Alicia said. She had hardly slept since they got back and when the sun finally rose, so did she. Nick had woken up to find her already packing and dressed, ready to face the dangers of the outside world.
"Take someone with you." Nick pleaded as she zipped up the bag.
"I can't. No one will stay out as long as I will, and no one else should risk their lives for this." Alicia reasoned, glancing at her brother like it may be the last time she had the chance to.
"Neither should you. She's gone, Alicia. You need to accept that." Nick left without another word, leaving his sister with a loaded look in his eyes.
Alicia drove for hours, her eyes dipped as she drove, and her mind wondered. If there had been any other cars on the road, she was sure she would have hit them by now. As the thought crossed her mind, a loud horn blew through the air, forcing her to open her eyes wide in shock and horror. She felt herself smack back into the seat a second later, and her stomach learched. Her seatbelt stopped her from smacking her head against the wheel, but she was sure she would be soar later either way. After a second of regaining her composure, Alicia pulled herself painfully out of the car.
"What the hell! How did you not see me, we are the only cars on the road!" She heard a girl shouting as she slipped out the seat, looking towards the other car. "Or was that on purpose, because if it is, I am armed, and I have nothing in my truck anyway!"
"No, it was not on purpose." Alicia replied, her voice sounding as dead as she felt. Her tone made the girl snap her mouth shut, and her eyes widened slightly. "I'm sorry, I was distracted."
"Fine." The red-haired girl snapped and walked back to her car, pausing as she opened the door with a thoughtful look in her eyes. She turned back to Alicia and spoke in a curious tone. "What's your name?"
"Alicia.." Alicia replied after a second of hesitation. The girl dropped her arms from her car, and her frown turned into an overly big smile that freaked Alicia out. "What?"
"This is great! Clarke's going to explode when she sees you!" The red head jumped in the car and flung open the passenger side door. Alicia froze. Had she really said what Alicia thought she did. "Well, are you coming?"
Alicia rushed into the car, abandoning her own car without a second thought.
"Did you just say Clarke?" Alicia listened intently for the answer, afriad she had imagined the words.
"Yeah, you know hot blonde, annoyingly desprate to find you, possibly the most important person on the planet at the moment." The girl said in a 'duh' tone.
"Clarke's alive." Alicia felt her throat closing from the heaviness of her emotions. She felt like she had died in the crash, and now she was in some alternate reality where she could have hope.
The whole ride, Alicia sat silently as the red head chatted about Clarke. Alicia couldn't concentrate. She couldn't stop questing if this was real and if it was why Clarke hadn't returned home. Why had Clarke chose to stay with some girl instead of her. She also definitely hadn't failed to notice the 'hot blonde' comment or how the red head's eyes sparkled when she spoke about the blonde. It bugged Alicia. However, that was still nothing compared to the relief she felt about Clarke being alive.
The girl parked outside a gate, and Alicia followed her inside. The walls were white, and the whole place made Alicia feel like she was in a fancy, white cage.
"Clarke!" The girl called as they neared an open door at the end of a hallway. "Guess what I found."
"What?" She heard Clarke's soft voice before she saw her, noticing her immediately when they walked through the door. Clarke was sat on a white chair, her hand hooked up to some machine and another girl looking at a computer screen next to her. Clarke's face fell as hers met Alicia's. For a second, everything was silent. Alicia froze, not believing her own eyes, and Clarke froze feeling the same way. The moment passed, and Clarke pulled the needle from her hand, ignoring the small beeds of blood left behind and flew to Alicia. She hugged her tightly, which Alicia instantly responded to, before gently pushing her away to see her face and hugging her tightly again.
"I never thought I was going to see you again." Alicia whispered into the blonde's hair, her voice breaking and her eyes leaking. Clarke pulled her closer, though it was hardly possible, and closed her eyes tightly, savering the feeling of Alicia in her arms.
"Well, we'll give you two some space and put a plaster on your hand." The red head spoke from behind them. Clarke slowly pulled away and momentarily looked at the red head before nodding.
"Thank you, Nova." Clarke said as the girl was about to leave the room. Nova smiled and nodded to the blonde before closing the door behind them. "I can't believe you're here."
Before Alicia could respond, the blonde pulled her back to her and kissed her deeply, almost moaning at the soft contact of their lips. Alicia kissed her back with just as much passion and savoured the taste of her lips.
"Clarke, why are you here?" Alicia asked once Clarke had pulled away, leaving them both breathless and wanting. Clarke scrunched up her eyebrows, debating how to explain everything she had learnt. "I-is it because of Nova?"
"Well, yeah." Clarke replied, her face morphing to shock when she finally realised what Alicia was insinuating. "What, no! Not like that. Alicia, we're helping each other and hopefully everyone else. I promise I'll explain everything once you're settled."
Alicia nodded and pulled Clarke towards her again, hugging her closely. She had never felt so vulnerable and safe at the same time. Her whole body was in shock. She had fully prepared herself to see Clarke as a walker or as nothing at all. She had fully intended to find the blonde, but she wasn't sure what she would have done if she had found her. She didn't want to imagine her life without Clarke, and she couldn't understand how she was staring right at her.
"I didn't stop looking for you. That's why I was out there." Alicia whispered, the softness in her voice automatically made Clakre think of Lexa.
"If this wasn't so important, I would have come back as soon as I realised the bite didn't kill me." Clarke replied, knowing how many people she could help and knowing that it would create a better world for the people she cared about, people like Alicia and Teddy.
"Wait! You're alive! Clarke your bite? How?" Alicia stuttered, surprised she had only just realised that Clarke survived a death sentence and bar looking a little tired, she looked well.
"I will explain everything."
