"Clarke?" Alicia whispered after a few minutes of silence. Clarke opened her eyes softly, appearing completely calm, even with her heart beating a mile a minute. She felt Alicia's skin against her skin and her warm breaths against her face. She scolded herself for not wearing her pj bottoms, but somehow didn't fully regret it. Clarke hadn't said a word since she slipped in the bed; she couldn't stop thinking about being so close to Alicia. Being so close to a version of Lexa.

"Yeah?" Clarke whispered back, glancing at Alicia's soft eyes.

"Who did you lose?" Alicia spoke softly, as if she was scared Clarke would get upset with her question. Clarke was stunned for a moment, but she was more curious with how Alicia new she had lost people, than being uncomfortable with the conversation they were about to have.

"How do you know I've lost someone?" Clarke inquired softly, gazing into Alicia's eyes with curiosity. Clarke could see the vibrant colours of Alicia's in the candle light.

"Because I know what it's like." Alicia replied quietly, glancing away from Clarke for a second. Clarke took a breath and looked at her suddenly interesting hand, which was placed in front of her face on the soft pillow.

"I lost, she was called Lexa." Clarke stuttered, feeling a familiar emptiness inside. Alicia didn't interrupt and waited patiently for Clarke to continue. "She was special, and I lost her too soon. Sometimes I think about how much time we could have had if we met sooner, or maybe that would have ended her life sooner..." Clarke slipped away from the present and got lost in the deepest corners of her mind, she barely heard Alicia when she spoke.

"What was she like?" Alicia asked, she had started to draw circles on Clarke's hand subconsciously, which was still flat against the pillow. Clarke glanced at her hand, suddenly realising what Alicia was doing. Clarke took a shaky breath, before speaking as clearly as she could manage.

"She was brave and smart, I don't even think the words I can use will be able to explain her. My people and I would have died if it wasn't for her, unlike some of her people, and mine, she just wanted peace. Sometimes she was ruthless, seemingly emotionless and put duty before everything, but she was really just a girl. I had also never met anyone so selfless and strong." Clarke's. once became strangled and soon enough her words died out, as images of Lexa clouded her mind.

"You loved her." Alicia spoke softly, wiping a stray tear off of Clarke's red cheek. "I'm sorry you lost her."

Clarke lost herself in Alicia's eyes, feeling herself being pulled towards her. She slipped her warm hand onto Alicia's face and slowly moved closer, she could smell the mint on her breath and the soap she used. Without realising it Clarke slowly placed her lips on Alicia's plump lips, kissing her softly. Clarke felt Alicia wrap her arm around Clarke's waist, pulling her ever so slightly closer.

Clarke suddenly pulled away, guilt consumed her, and she rushed out of the bed. She had been with women after Lexa, well only Niylah, but that was purely physical, and Niylah wasn't Lexa. Clarke felt like she was trying to replace Lexa with Alicia and she couldn't do that, she felt like she had completely betrayed her.

"I... I'm sorry." Clarke spoke with a weak voice, stumbling out of the room. She shut Alicia's door quietly and stumbled to her own room, sliding into bed and letting her tears fall silently. Popeye plodded towards her, sleepily snuggling down next to her, Clarke reached out her hand and stroked his soft fur.

Alicia didn't follow Clarke, she sunk into her bed and wished that she hadn't started the conversation in the first place. She thought back to what Clarke had said and couldn't get Lexa's name out of her head.

The next week was tense between Clarke and Alicia, they were quiet and awkward around each other. Alicia tried to give Clarke space, however being in the same house made that difficult. Clarke had expected Alicia to leave, as Clarke was dead weight with her leg healing.
