My alarm started ringing at 6 AM and I hit snooze a few times. I don't know why I set it so early when I don't have to be there for three more hours. I must have been excited because I was wide awake when the alarm when off. I decided to roll out of bed and head towards the shower. After I hopped out of the shower I got dressed. A more business casual look for the day. Less dressy than what I would normally wear to the white house, but I'm not going on an official capacity so I think it's okay. I did a little makeup. Also less than what I would normally wear. I threw some last-minute things into my bag. It was already 8:15 so I decided to head out. By the time I stopped to grab a coffee and make it to the white house, and get through the gate it would be close to 9. I grab my keys and walk out the door locking up my apartment. I stopped at a Starbucks that is on my way for coffee. I made it to the White House by 8:45. Traffic was not too bad today. I parked and made it to the gate I needed to go in.

"Emma! What are you doing here?" the guard asked me. It has been radio silence from me for three months so I wouldn't be surprised if there will be lots of looks.
"Just visiting, James was supposed to let me in."
"Yes. He did, here's your pass. I will see you later then. Have a great day."
"I'll try, thank you very much. You too!" I grabbed my pass I walked away. I made my way to James' office. His secretary let me knock on his door and let myself in.
"Hey, James. I just wanted to say hi before I go see Jack. I'll talk to you after I'm done in there with him."
"Okay Emma, see you later, have a good meeting."

I made my way to the oval. Thank god he wasn't busy right now or who knows how long I would be waiting. Or maybe I wouldn't have waited long, I have a feeling if he knew I was staying outside the door to his office right now he might drop everything. I got the nod of approval from his secretary, Jessica. I slightly knocked on the door as I opened it. He looked up from his desk and made eye contact with me. He got up from his seat and made his way around the desk. The look on his face you could not describe. It was a look between shocked, scared, and hurt. I shut the door behind me.

"Hi"
"Hi, " He made his way to the window. I knew I needed to join him. We didn't know who was standing on the other side of the door. "What are you doing here?" There was a knot between his eyebrows. He was confused, I would be too if i was in his shoes.
"I came to talk to you," I was finally against the window. "Yes. Yes I will come back." His hand slowly touched my cheek. Maybe making sure I was really there. I grabbed his hand and removed it. "But,"
"There's always a but..."
"But, this. Us. Will not be happening until A) the election is over B) the divorce is finalized and C) publicly there is enough reasonable time and a great ass story behind it. Oh and I have to tell my family before it airs on national news."
"Okay rules. I can do rules. Only 100 days until the election. Shortly after that the divorce will be final and how long is a reasonable amount of time?"
"Three to six months, at least. We can't make it seem likes we've already been sleeping together. The press would have a hay day with that and remember we like to keep my job easy."
"Your job huh? Last time I checked you worked at a coffee shop."
"I quit. And I'm here. What do you want me to do beg for my job back. I don't get on my knees and beg. I know you. I know you would drop anyone for me. You still love me."
"I always will." He kissed me on the forehead but that's as far as it went. It was longer then normal but that's how you know he had meaning behind it. You could tell that when he pulled away he wanted more. He wanted to go for it but I made rules and he was going to stand by them to get me. Whatever it took he was going to do. Like I said, he still loves me.
