As Christmas got closer the first lady was starting to plan the different trees around the White House. She had asked me to pitch in a few ideas and get the stress off of her. I loved helping her, it was probably the highlight of my year. I was helping one of my closest friends decorate the white house. Some days when I showed up for work I was in a state of shock, others I felt dirty. I worked hard for this, to make it up here with the big dogs, and somehow it felt like I slept my way to the top. I had this huge secret hanging above my head. I had slept with the President of the United States and nobody could ever know. Not only did I sleep with him, but I also love him. Some days I don't want to work for him because of the way he looks at me. He looks at me like he's seen me naked. I mean he has, but he needs to stop undressing me with his eyes every time he saw me. I was about to take a much-needed vacation. I hadn't taken a break since I joined the trail. I was deep in thought reading about the different tabloid stories the press was trying to release. I finally heard my phone after the 3rd ring.
"Hello," I said. I was still deep in the article.
"I need you to come here," it was the president.
"Yes sir, I'll be right there," I left my office and headed towards his. I really didn't want to do this. I should've asked before I got up and headed this way. I could have just sent an aid or done it over the phone. I arrived at his door. I didn't knock I knew he was expected me.
"Mr. President, what can I help you with?" I looked at him as he handed me a folder. inside was an article.
Riffs between the President and First Lady?  What could this mean for the United States?
"What do you want me to do?" I questioned. I knew I needed to fix it I just had to figure out how. We all knew it wasn't true. Well everyone but me, I had known the truth, for a long time. That night he told me what was actually happening. But they were so good at acting nobody knew.
"I want, I need, you to fix it. Say that the transition to the White House wasn't the easiest and trying to figure out the new schedule was tough but they are happy as ever."
"Yes sir, does the First Lady know about the article?"
"She's the next person I'm going to. You get started on a release. After you finish it you can bring it to us."
"Okay. I'll talk to you later then," I left the oval and went back to my office.

In light of the recent article questioning the president and the first lady's relationship, I am here to say that any and all allegations against the president and first lady and their relationship are false. While adjusting to the White House and trying to figure out their new schedules did take time, They have been able to work through both those issues and are stronger than they ever have been. For anyone to believe this rumor or any other rumor surrounding the first family is completely wrong. There will be no questions at this time, Thank you.

As soon as it was finished, I printed it off and made my way back to the oval.
"Is he in?" I asked Katelyn, his secretary.
"yes, he and the first lady are both in there," I didn't hear any shouting so that was always a good sign.
I decided that it would be best to knock. I heard a faint come in. I open the door and he was standing at the window and if looks could kill Hanna would have killed him before I made it halfway across the room. Next, the deadly eyes were shifted in my direction.
I slightly coughed.
"I have the statement sir," I walked over to him and handed it to him. He looked at me with the coldest eyes I've seen in a while. Obviously, they weren't meant for me but I still got them.
"Thanks," he said dryly.
Ouch okay. I had no idea what had happened between the two of them. He read over it and handed it to her.
"Sounds great," Hanna was just as dry. She set the paper down on the table and walked out of the oval with a slam of the door.
"What happened while I was gone?" I asked him as I sat down on the couch.
"I confronted her and then she lied to my face. Well, she said that she wasn't or hadn't slept with anyone and she asked what happened between us on inauguration night. So I told her that we slept together, it was time for her to know."
"YOU DID WHAT!"
"I'm kidding, calm down. I really did confront her. But she didn't ask what happened."
"Good lord I need a vacation. I'm so going home for Christmas. So why did I get the cold eyes that were pointed towards you?"
"I'm not sure why you got them from her. I approve of your time off. Once you give this statement you can go home."
"Sir it's only 3?"
"Yeah you deserve it," he said with that smile. The one I was used to getting instead of cold, hard eyes. "I'm sorry about the cold eyes and the shortness from me earlier. I was tired of her. So I took it out on you," He moved from leaning on his desk to sitting by me. He patted my knee. "Thank you for handling this."
"Jack, you can't. We can't."
He gave me the saddest eyes I had seen, in a while.
"Yeah, I know..." he moved a foot or so over so he wasn't so close. "You should go. The press is probably waiting for you. Have a good rest of your day. I'll see you tomorrow."
"Goodbye, sir. I will see you tomorrow."
I walked out of the oval and went straight to the press room. I made my statement. it was quick and easy and with no questions, things went smooth. I gather my things from my office and headed home. I stopped to grab some wine and food before I made it home, this was a nice day to leave early.
