I'm Just Me

Chapter 11

We stood there looking at each other.

"Jai, I'm so confused," I was going to cry because I was so happy and upset at the same time.

"There's nothing to be confused about," Jai grabs my hand.

"Jai, I told you about everything, I thought you understood," I whine.

"I understand, but I love you," Jai squeezes my hand tighter.

"Do you think I should just forget about me and Scott and just live happily ever after with you?!" I let go of his hand.

"Well no, but I'm just trying to express how I feel about you," Jai stares straight into my eyes.

"Says the boy who ditched me and and only came back because I changed my look," I say angrily.

"So how did you meet Scott?!" Jai yells and crosses his arms.

I stay silent.

"I thought you said I can pick whoever makes me happy," A tear falls down my cheek.

Jai's eyes go wide and he wraps his arms around me.

"Don't cry, I'm sorry," Jai hugs me tightly.

I sniffle.

"Jai, lets always stay friends no matter what happens," I say with tears still going down.

"Am I being friend zoned?" Jai looked disappointed.

"No," I let out a small giggle.

Jai smiles and then we hear the doorbell.

"The pizza!" Jai's mom yells.

Jai grabs my hand and pulls me downstairs and to the front door.

The pizza guy was holding two boxes of pizzas.

"That smells amazing!" I grab both of the pizzas myself and put them on the table.

"What have you been eating Avery?" Jai whispers in my ear.

"What do you mean..do I look fat or something?" I ask confused.

"Since your mom is gone, what have you been eating?" Jai whispers again.

"Oh, I haven't ate dinner in a while," I say quietly. "I've had school lunch though ."

Jai stared at me with concerned eyes.

I grabbed a paper plate and grabbed two slices.

I was about to walk away but Jai put two more slices on my plate.

He saw that I was confused,"Go to my room," Jai then grabs his slices while I walk upstairs to his room.

I lay on my belly on top of his bed and wait till Jai came to start eating.

He was taking a pretty long time so I got bored and went over to his desk.

There's cologne, earplugs and something I would've never thought he'd still have.

It was a mini treasure chest that we both had and inside we'd put anything that would make us always remember our friendship.

I opened the treasure chest and found our friendship ring, friendship necklace that had on half of a heart, and there was a whole bunch of pics of me that was taken when I was in elementary school.

A tear drops from my eye.

He still has all of this stuff..

I look through more of the pictures and then see a couple pictures of both of us. One of them was where my face was serious and Jai was reaching for my hand. Another had me holding Jai's hand and he was blushing. Another had me hugging Jai and he was blushing again. The last one had Jai kissing me on the cheek and I looked really surprised.

I started to cry even more.

Suddenly I felt a hand wrap around mine.

I look back and see Jai.

He picked up the box and motioned me towards the bed.

He takes out the pictures of us both and looks at the one where he kissed my cheek.

"That was the best day of my life," he chuckles.

I stare at him with tears still falling down my cheek.

He smiles.

Then I change my facial expression and break down crying.

He wraps his arms around me but says nothing.

"Why weren't you there for me!" I cry.

Jai lets go of the hug and looks into my eyes.

"Huh?" His face was full of confusion and worry.

"I had no friends and worse, lost my best friend, then I went into depression and decided that the only way to feel better was to end my life!" I cry harder.

He continues to stare at me.

"I was only a 7th grader and what would you feel if I successfully committed suicide?!?" I say angrily.

No more than 1 second went by and I felt Jai's lips on mine.

The kiss lasted for probably about 20 seconds. It was long and passionate and when we moved our lips apart, Jai's face was so close to mine and he was staring into my eyes.

About 2 minutes past and Jai finally said,"Maybe you should eat your pizza."

The next day

"Don't even try to deny it," Cheyenne screams.

"I saw you!!" Jazzy yells furiously.

"How?!" I yell back.

"It isn't your concern!" Jazzy looks away and then locks her eyes on mine again.

"Stalking much," I say and cross my arms.

"What did I tell you about being around Jai?!?" Jazzy screams in my face.

"And you were kissing all over Scott, weren't you?" Cheyenne crosses her arms.

I just stand there and don't say a word.

"You know..I'm pretty sure Jai wouldn't want to know that you are sleeping with Scott," Jazzy plays with her hair while smiling widely and suspiciously.

"What are you talking about?" I ask angrily.

"Oh, you don't remember posting this on Twitter?" Jazzy shows me my Twitter page on her iPhone.

Avery_Me: omg I just remember that amazing night with Scott. i skipped school a while back and we had the best time of our lives at his house. now we do it alll the time‼️

"Oh my god!" I say panicked.

I started to have shortage of breath and Cheyenne and Jazzy just laughed.

"W-w-when did that get posted," I say trying to stay calm.

"This morning, so everyone will certainly love to see this during class!" Cheyenne laughs in my face.

"How did you..," they answered the question before I could let it out.

"Oh, hacks, internet, research, it was pretty easy to get in your account!" they laugh.

"Now shoo fly, shoo," Jazzy pushes me away from her and out the bathroom door.

Once I got out of the door...I knew my life was ruined when...
