We reached down to the floor where his office was situated. He coiled his arm around my shoulder while walking out of elevator. I craned up my neck to left, looking at him questionable-y to which he shook his head.

Something was bothering him.

I concluded.

He was doing gestures to show me that he cared for me. But I knew that.
Why all of sudden he felt the need to show me, that too going out of his character?

Entering inside his office I twirled out of his arm which was wrapped around my shoulder and backed up to his desk. Right leg crossed over left, hands gripping edge of desk on either side, I leaned back in it.

Nikhil shot me a questioning look.

Looking at him I asked, "What's the matter, Nikhil? You are acting differently."

He didn't answer my question right away rather became uneasy.
Then gesturing to the two chairs on either side of me he said, "Let's sit first."

My eyebrows quirked up.
"Anything serious?"

Walking toward me he sat in the chair on my left, following which I made myself comfortable in the right one.

His eyes still didn't meet mine. They were looking into space. "It's not that. I needed to ask you something." He replied monotonous- ly , in a typical Nikhil's style.

After a short pause he added, "I should have asked you long before." His tone low and serious.

Alarm bells rang in my mind.

"And what's that something?" Nervously I asked.

He looked in dilemma, at loss of words, hesitating to ask. I waited for him to calm himself, for him to be comfortable with himself and his thoughts.
After a minute or so when his inner battle died down he stared at me, maybe trying to figure out my reaction, to whatever was bothering him.

He stared.

Then all of a sudden he proposed his question. "Are you alright with me taking off C.E.O. position after dad?"

Now I stared at him. Casually.
His words registered in my mind but I couldn't give any reaction. I knew I have to reply but I just didn't feel like saying anything.

He was becoming anxious for my answer with every passing second wanting to be out of this awkward situation as soon as possible but unfortunately he had to face it first.

"Say something." He compelled.

I smiled knowingly. I was amused seeing him anxious.

"What do you want to hear?" I questioned looking at him which earned me a plain look from him.

"Just say it already, Ahana." He said rolling his eyes. He looked visibly uncomfortable. Afraid of my answer.

"What made you think I'm not?" I asked in a casual tone.

Instantly his eyes found mine. "Is that a yes?" He asked. Hope shining in his eyes bringing a smile on my face.

"Yes." I replied confirming his doubts.
