Scarborough, Toronto, Canada

"How long till she gets here?"

"You asked this 2 minutes ago."

"Oh. Well how long?"

"You can count, right?" Lamar asked, raising an eyebrow at him.

Abel sighed and tapped his shoes on the pavement. The two of them were currently sitting on Lamar's front steps, waiting for Genesis. She had just landed the night before and was meeting them in a few minutes. Abel was excited, he hadn't seen her in 2 months and he missed her a lot.

"How long till she-"

"Ask me one more time and watch me curb stomp you."

Abel sighed again. "Sorry."

"You're excited, I get that."

"I mean, Mama wants me to be home by 6 today so I can help her make dinner because my auntie's coming over so I can't stay long. What if I gotta leave before G gets here?"

"You told her 3:30. It's 3:15. Why are you panicking?"

Abel sighed.

The last 2 months had been quite a ride for him. A lot of things happened that changed him a little, but he was still the cheerful Abel that Lamar knew. Lamar worried about his friend sometimes. He feared for his friend's wellbeing, but most of all, he feared for his safety.

3:25. Abel rubbed his hands together as he tried to ignore the butterflies floating around his stomach.

3:30. Abel looked around anxiously.

3:35.

3:40.

"I don't think she's coming." Abel mumbled.

"She's only 10 minutes late. You know , people can never be on time, the stereotypes be kicking our ass. Plus she'd call me if she decided not to come. Plus she would never just stand us up. And also-"

"There she is." Abel breathed, looking past his friend. Genesis walked down the sidewalk, her eyes on the ground. Her hair was in small box braids and her skin was darker from spending hours in the sun. It made her light eyes stand out more. Not only that, but she seemed thicker. She grew curves in certain places that made Abel's knees weak.

"Damn," he breathed. "It's only been 2 months."

Lamar stood up to go meet her. He looked down at his friend that was still sitting down. "You not gon say hi?"

"Yeah, I just..." He stood up as he watched her walk. "Yeah."

She looked up and a wide smile spread across her face. She picked up her speed and basically ran to Lamar, hugging him tightly. Abel stood there awkwardly as they embraced each other.

She let him go and basically jumped on Abel, catching him by surprise. "Wow," he said, letting out a laugh. "I missed you too." He mumbled as she buried her face in his neck.
